Did the door open and lights turn on because you let out the groan? Or would they have happened anyway? Were you trying to escape from a house? Were you going to do something in the kitchen? Is any kitchen appliance relevant, or food? Did the person who opened the door turn on the lights? Did you know him/her? Was it their house? Was it dark in the kitchen? Was it night time? Was the thing you saw: A person? Animal? Writing? An object? A mirror? Did you groan because: The thing you saw prevented you from doing something, or made doing something harder? Or because it would cause something to happen which you did not want? Or did it look unpleasant? Was it in a house? The front door of the house? Back door? |

*gasp* you wouldn't...raid their cheeseburgers?! No. There's a lot of loose information floating around, so to try and help you out, here's a RECAP: I passed through the kitchen and let out a groan. Seconds later, the door opened and the lights turned on. You have established that: -This takes place at a house. The owner of the house was male and inside. -The person (female) who opened the door and turned on the lights had entered through a window. When she opened the door, some other girls were waiting outside. -This is related to a prank that a group of guys (including myself) had pulled on a group of girls who lived at another house. We raided their house and swiped a few knick-knacks. -My groan isn't because we were discovered (aka "not because they had realized that it was us who had snatched the objects"), but that guess was OTRT. You should be able to put a few things together now. |

Were the girls supposed not to enter the house at all? Did the girls behave smarter than supposed? Less smart? Was the girl who came through the window dressed somehow relevant? Was she carrying something relevant? Did the girls take some of your belongings as a revenge? |

Ok, so you visited girls' house, took some stuff and came to one of the boys' houses. You expected the girls to come and retrieve their belongings and you pretended you were not in the house (you kept all the ligths off). But one of the girls entered the house through the window, turned on the lights and let her colleagues in, which is what you hadn't expect. Is anything missing? |

You expected the girls to come and retrieve their belongings and you pretended you were not in the house (you kept all the ligths off). But one of the girls entered the house through the window, turned on the lights and let her colleagues in, which is what you hadn't expect. Pretty much dead-on. Is anything missing? Only one little bit, but I'll explain in the **********SPOILER*********** Last year, my small group visited one of the off-campus houses that some girls we knew lived in and snagged a few items for fun. We brought the items back to our leader's house and hid the items, turning off all the lights and locking the doors and windows in order to pretend that we weren't there. Sure enough, they knew we had taken the items and came over (which we expected); however, one of the girls found an out-of-the way window with a broken lock, got in that way, and spoiled our plans. The puzzle statement refers to me hearing the noise of the window opening, walking through the kitchen, seeing her come in, and groaning because our plans were done. She opened the door and turned on the lights in order to let her friends in. Side note: The girl who came in through the window and I are now good friends. Nice work, everyone, especially Redwine and Shez. Make sure your windows are locked. |
