A man made a purchase in order to save a little time, but it ended up costing him a lot of money. What did he buy? |

Welcome to the forum! We can assume he is a HAM (human adult male), so is his nationality relevant? age? profession? martital status? Would the puzzle work with a HAF? Are other people involved, besides whoever he bought the - whatever - from? Was the purchase one item? more than one? many items? |

In response to the other questions, his age, profession, marital status, nationality, and gender are irrelevant. |

Welcome to the forum, Sunnygrace! Was it going to save him time on a task? At work? At home? Is the task something ordinary? Something that anyone can do? Something that a lot of people do actually do? For future reference, use bold text to answer questions. You make text bold like this (without the spaces): \ b { text } |

Welcome, Sunnygrace! :D Were the items he purchased intended for the use he was planning to put them to? Or was he trying to find a "creative solution" to something? Did this collection of items come in a box? A bottle? A glass? A bag? A tin? Sold separately? |

Did he buy the stamps on a counter? On an automat? If it was an automat, was it one that doesn't give out change? Or gives change only in form of stamps? And he didn't have the exact amount of money for buying a certain amount of stamps, so he had to pay more than necessary or ended up with stamps that he didn't want? Or did he buy a "stamp" with his phone? Which is more expensive than buying a real stamp? (At least that's the case in Germany) Did he buy ahead a large amount of stamps so that he won't have to go buy any for a while? |

appear on a game show?to win the money he had to answer a question about the current price of a stamp? (and he didn't know)YES! ***************SPOILER*************** In order to avoid the nuisance of buying new stamps every time the price went up, he bought forever stamps. Years later, he appeared on "Who Wants to be a Millionaire." All was well until he faced this question: What is the current price of a US first-class stamp? A: 42 cents B: 43 cents C:44 cents D: 45 cents. He guessed wrong and left with $1000, rather than the $16,000 he would have won for getting the question right. For those of you who want to be on the show, this is the type of question they ask every time it changes. |

Too late for him. Contestants should know things that change every year, like the current American Idol, the champs of every important sports league, and the winning word of the National Spelling Bee (you normally don't have to spell the word, but you have to know what it means.) |
