It's not often that I run two puzzles at the same time but things are quiet in Lateral Land at present so here goes When a friend told me he'd got food on his face I laughed, but I was a little sad also. What's going on? |

tikka? masala? dhansak? gosht? biryani? jalfreezi? fahl? kebab? do piaza? Ok I'll invoke the LTPF list of Indian Dishes and tell you that it was a Korma were you sad because there would be none for you? Nothing like that were you sad because your friend had made a fool of himself? No remember he's joking so this didn't really happen is it important to work out how he got the food on his face? Let's just say he slumped with shock and went face first in his korma was it a take-away? Irrelevant did he fall? did the food fall? was he drunk? did the food get thrown? See my answer above. You're trying to work out a joke here so try not to get too specific about the fall. Suffice to say he ended up covered in chicken korma or some other korma dish |

Is the name of the band essential to the solution? So, your friend told you in a joking manner, that he was enjoying his korma dish, when he suddenly heard in the radio that the Band X had split up. And he was so much shocked with the news, that he ended up with his face straight in the korma. Is that correct? Is anything missing? |

Is the name of the band essential to the solution? Well you'll need to find out the band in order to solve it So, your friend told you in a joking manner, that he was enjoying his korma dish, when he suddenly heard in the radio that the Band X had split up. And he was so much shocked with the news, that he ended up with his face straight in the korma. Is that correct? He didn't actually mention Korma until the punchline but otherwise perfect Is anything missing? Only the identity of the band and the then obvious punchline |

Korma when you try to wake her up? (Only thing I can think of at the moment.) No but top marks for effort WAIT WAIT -- That's me in the korma? (That's me in the spotlight...) Hooray well done Balin. **************Spoiler**************** The joke (which my brother in law posted on my facebook wall the day after the split) reads........ ...'I was eating an Indian meal when I heard REM had split up, I got such a shock I slumped face first into my food.........That's me in the Korma.' He ended it with a cheeky 'Too Soon?' which became the title of the puzzle. Glad you solved this Balin and once again special thanks to Shez for mentioning an old favourite. As this is my farewell to REM puzzle I'll leave you with a little piece of Stipe magic... That's great, it starts with an earthquake, birds and snakes, an aeroplane - Lenny Bruce is not afraid. Eye of a hurricane, listen to yourself churn - world serves its own needs, regardless of your own needs. Feed it up a knock, speed, grunt no, strength no. Ladder structure clatter with fear of height, down height. Wire in a fire, represent the seven games in a government for hire and a combat site. Left her, wasn't coming in a hurry with the furies breathing down your neck. Team by team reporters baffled, trump, tethered crop. Look at that low plane! Fine then. Uh oh, overflow, population, common group, but it'll do. Save yourself, serve yourself. World serves its own needs, listen to your heart bleed. Tell me with the rapture and the reverent in the right - right. You vitriolic, patriotic, slam, fight, bright light, feeling pretty psyched. It's the end of the world as we know it. It's the end of the world as we know it. It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine. Cheers |
