Wild guess: Dung? No My teacher's first name. It's Vietnamese for "brave", I think. Heh. It's weird how a name can mean something great or beautiful in one language and completely ridiculous in another one. Poor Dung. |

Is it a 'foreign' (non-English) name? First or last name? Could it be a fairly common name, but with an unusual spelling/pronunciation? e.g. Smyth? |

Is it a 'foreign' (non-English) name? Yope, beware of FA First or last name? First Could it be a fairly common name, but with an unusual spelling/pronunciation? e.g. Smyth? Little difficult to answer that without giving away too much. The spelling is what makes the name very unusual. Pronunciation-wise, the name sounds perfectly normal. |

Does the name sound normal, but looks weird in writing? Does the name have also a non-name meaning in English (like Grace)? In other language? |

I don't think so Peter365 Is it a boys name? It's meant to be this or a nuetral one like Leslie? There is a neutral component to it, but it's hard to go into further detail at this point without $poyling too much... |

Is the etymology of the name relevant? Yesish, but beware of FA e.g does it mean something like daughter or sister? No HINT: These questons are kind of tricky to answer, so I'll give something away: The sound and spelling of the name are GROSSLY different from each other. As in, a sane person would never write the name like it it spelt for this person when they hear it and they would never, uh, pronounce it like it is pronounced for this person when they see it. The above responses are for the pronounced form. The question I've just answered applies mainly to the spelling or rather the combination of both forms. |

Is it some ridiculous name spelled like a completely normal one? Like if I suddenly declared my name to be MooMooShooShoo McGoo but that since I didn't want to pay to change my name, I was still spelling it the same way I do now and only pronouncing it "MooMooShooShoo McGoo"? |

Is it the other way around? Some weird name with a totally normal pronunciation? Yes You are free to use Google to figure out the name, BTW, but if that is not solved by the end of this week, I'm going to spoil the puzzle since you now know why the name is so weird. |

***** SPOILER ***** Brfxxccxxmnpcccclllmmnprxvclmnckssqlbb11116 (pronounced "albin") was a name intended for a Swedish child who was born in 1991. The boy's parents had planned to never legally name him at all, as a protest to the naming law of Sweden. Because the parents (Elisabeth Hallin and Lasse Diding) failed to register a name by the boy's fifth birthday, a district court in Halmstad, southern Sweden, fined the parents 5,000 kronor (US$682 at the time). Responding to the fine, the parents submitted the 43-character name in May 1996, claiming that it was "a pregnant, expressionistic development that we see as an artistic creation." The parents suggested the name be understood in the spirit of pataphysics. The court rejected the name and upheld the fine. The parents then tried to change the spelling of the name to A (also pronounced "albin") instead. Once again, the court did not approve of the name, this time because of a prohibition on one-letter naming. http://www.monstrous.com/Monstrous_People/Brfxxccxxmnpcccclllmmnprxvclmnckssqlbb11116.html |
