By constitution, do you mean physical strength / weakness? Were you asked to perform some physical activity? (Long shot: cleaning the street from snow?) Moving heavy objects? I discovered these days that my "constitution" was not strong enough to work at removing snow more than two hours in a row :-) |

POSSIBLE NON NATIVE SPEAKER FAIL ALERT: Given the questions posed so far, I take it that "constitution" is more associated with health and physical strength, so I guess that "physique" would be a more appropiate term here. Sorry for that. |

SUMMARY: The day I started this puzzle, one pair of jeans of mine was ripped in a way that one leg became somewhat shorter. This indirectly was the reason why I had to pay for something. If I had made an alteration on the jeans earlier (which actually would have been necessary due to my stature), none of that would have happened. Hint: another item is highly important here. |

HINT: I had torn up the jeans due to repeatedly stepping on the extra fabric with my heel when walking around. The extra fabric eventually came off through an object that was not my shoe. |

***** SPOILER ***** As I'm short, pants from right out of the store are always too long for me. I always need to have them shortened, and if I don't, I have to roll up the pant legs, they tend to unroll themselves as I walk, and I step on the hem with my heel. In the long run, I will create holes and later regular rips by stepping on the same area so often. The day before I wrote the puzzle, my washing machine stopped working, with laundry still inside. Since I understand washing machines just as well as the average nuclear missile, I called a technician to have a look at it and he found out that a piece of jeans fabric clogged up something inside the machine so that the water could not be pumped out anymore. Turned out that the fabric came from the hem of an unshortened pair of jeans and that it was torn off during the washing process because one of the aforementioned rips became too large. Well, if I had been taller, I wouldn't have had to shorten the pants, no fabric would've been ripped off, the washing machine wouldn't have been clooged and I wouldn't have had to pay a technician for fixing the mess. |
