Did he have plastic surgery to look younger? No to all; he looks his actual age.
So why did he think he could/should get a discount?

Disclaimer: Rather silly puzzle. Be warned!

Inspired by an elderly neighbor. Now that she is "old enough to drink" I offered to buy her a beer!

So did he argue that although he was however old, he should still be able to get the discount because he was technically only 15 or whatever? But he couldn't prove it because he couldn't prove his date of birth? If so, did he forget his ID?

I think they go by how old you _really_ are, not the birthdays, as my neighbor has been able to buy drinks for some time.

Is it something like "Get a free X on your birthday"? And it wasn't his birthday?
Did this happen in the US? If so, is it relevant that people there who were born February 28 legally have their birthdays on March 1 in non-leap years? In Europe, I believe it's February 28?

Is it something you can only buy when you're above a certain age? Alcohol? Cigarettes?

New York had a special election on February 28, 2006. I recently contacted the Board of Elections because I was curious if people born on Leap Day 1988 could vote. They couldn't.

More like being able to get into a show or on a bus/train, etc, at half-prince as being under 12 y.o. They weren't going to let him get away with that!
