Are they humans? Are they certain about something? Wrong about the same thing? Is the group "they" defined by their being wrong? Such as "losers in a betting pool"? |

Are they certain about something from their professional field? From their private lives? Do they all have anything else in common besides being certain and wrong? |

Are they certain and wrong always about the same thing? Different things from the same field? Are they certain about a statement about facts? A decision? An evaluation? |

What ho, Watson. Top of the morning to you, old chap. Awfully sorry to rush off so suddenly in the middle of that infernal Circus Maximus business. See you caught the blighter in the end, though. Splendid work. Good to see you're still in the business. Are they always wrong about whatever they are wrong about precisely because they are certain about it? Do they broadcast the things they are certain about in the press? On TV? On the radio? Online? Are any particular words relevant? Does the way they express their certainty make them wrong? |

Is it relevant how they broadcast the things they are certain about? Do the people who constitute "they" only become "they" when they say these things? Or are they a particular group of people? Type of person? |

Do they know they're wrong when they announce that they're certain? Does anyone else know? Are they actually wrong at that moment? Or are they making predictions which turn out to be wrong later? |

I'm very well, thanks. How about you? Are "they" people who spell definitely "definately"? Something along these lines? Something involving a spelling mistake? Another kind of mistake? Do "they" say these things in the same place? On a social network? In one place? In many places? Ironically, I noticed on the preview screen that I had spelled "definitely" wrong |

Jane you are an ace detective – you are spot on! Are "they" people who spell definitely "definately"? YES – This EXACTLY Ironically, I noticed on the preview screen that I had spelled "definitely" wrong What can I say? Only that you have glorious insight and intuition! ************* SPOILER ************** (See Jane’s comment above!) In emails and on forums, I see so many examples of people that have written the word 'definate' which is clearly a misspelling of 'definite'. Whenever they write ‘definate’ or ‘definately’ they are “certain” because they are expressing the quality of certainty, via the meaning of the word they wrote. And they are always “wrong” because that word is misspelled! |

Why don't people who spell definitely "definately" spell infinitely "infinately"? |
