Someone on Facebook shared a statement that I think applies really well to the election this year, so I thought I'd share it. But I couldn't just share it; I had to make a puzzle out of it. The words will go from red to orange to green to blue. Majestic quotes shouldn't only be about the return and the orange juice. NOTE: "Majestic" and "quotes" begin separate chains. "Orange juice" is the start of one chain. |

Is it ok to just guess synonyms . I'm not sure if I remember the rules for idiomuzzles . Maybe you could post them here if you have them. On the assumption that it's ok I'm going to proceed.. Magestic - Regal? Quotes - Cites? Orange Juice - Orange Crush? (Subtle REM reference) |

Is it ok to just guess synonyms . I'm not sure if I remember the rules for idiomuzzles . Maybe you could post them here if you have them. On the assumption that it's ok I'm going to proceed.. Here's the official rule as set back in 2009: Decoding the green words is done by finding "synonyms, near-synonyms or sound-alikes" for them - and finding the synonyms is done by standard lateral questions. But in more recent idiomuzzles, other connections can be made. For instance, one can go from a city to an event in that city, or a song to its artist. Other similar connections are possible. Magestic - Regal? Quotes - Cites? Orange Juice - Orange Crush? (Subtle REM reference) No to all |

Athens - capital? City? Democracy? This Democratic? Political? Greek government? Return - does the end word have anything to do with lobbyists by any chance? No, but... "Democratic decisions shouldn't only be about the loudest and the proudest." ...you've nailed the quote here, with a slight variance on the first word. ****OPEN SPOILER**** Democracy decisions shouldn't only be about the loudest and the proudest. I'm calling it an "open spoiler" because, although the phrase has been solved, the chain from "return" to "loudest" is still open, in case you want to try and figure it out. If not, let me know and I'll say what the chain is. |

return - encore! Yep! ...applause? This. ovation? cheering? shouting? ****SPOILER**** Democracy decisions shouldn't only be about the loudest and the proudest. majestic -> olympic -> Athens -> democracy quotes -> lines -> rulings -> decisions return -> encore -> applause -> loudest orange juice -> vitamin C -> graduation -> proudest This quote was posted by a friend of a friend on Facebook in response to my college's decision to remove Chick-fil-a from campus, despite a poll where 67% of students wanted it to stay. (The decision was vetoed by the student president. They had a second vote to potentially overturn the veto; I do not know the results of that vote.) I saw the quote and thought it applied well to all circumstances, including the presidential election, but I couldn't just share it.... Nice work Shez & Dlcygnet for the solve.
