As a kid, I used to have a scrund about it because of its name. The scrund was cleared, but I thought it should be re-named. When I learnt more about it, I understoof that the name is actually fitting. What is "it" and what was the scrund? |

Is "it" an animal? a plant? some other living being? does it exist physically? is it visible? can it be touched? is it an abstract concept? an idea? did it exist when you had the scrund? does it exist now? was the scrund cleared when you saw it first? Is (or was) there exactly one of "it"? a few (up to 10)? a whole lot of it? Is (or was) it one special exemplar of a group (like "your cat", if you had one)? Is the name a proper name? a generic name? do you refer to the English name (if it has names in different languages)? |

Was it (in the widest sense) a geographical entity? a country? a region? a town? an island? a mountain? a lake? Does it now "noishly exist" because it does not exist anymore as such, but remainings are still visible? Was it destroyed? rebuilt? burnt down? abandoned? Did it exist 100 years ago? 500 years ago? 1000 years ago? 3000 years ago? Is it unknown when exactly it existed? |

7 decades ago would make it 1942... Give or take a few years? World War II? The new deal relevant? A political party? The Nazi party? Communism? (Although, both still exist...) Was it a business? The spruce goose? Submarines? Polio? Small pox? Relevant technology: Automotive? Aerospace? Boats? Eugenics? Rockets? Tanks? Weaponry? Healthcare? Immunizations? |

Were you confused by why they called it a World War? (When there were probably 200 odd countries that stayed out of the whole mess.) |

Did you think our world was fighting against a different world? Like 'War of the Worlds'? Did you think every country was involved? Did you think all countries fought for themselves rather than being allied to others? |

Did you think it was the north hemisphere vs the south or similar? The first world vs the third world? One continent vs another? Is your scrund to do with who was fighting? Did you think every person in the world was in the army? Is it to do with where the fighting took place? Did you think it was all over the world? |

Did you think every person in the world was in the army? Is it to do with where the fighting took place? Did you think it was all over the world? this! ********SPOILER******** When I first heard about WWII as a kid, I pictured it as a war that was fought all over the world, with battles in jungles and deserts and even antarctica. So when I learned where it really took place, I thought it should be renamed in order to avoid confusion. But then I learned more about it and that it's called world war because it's of global relevance and because it involved, quoting wiki here, "most of the world's most powerful and populous countries" I understood that the name is justified and fitting. Thanks for playing, and nice solve, Dlcygnet and Enjay (: |

Yes, and the Battle of Antarctica gets no respect in history books =) Sorry I couldn't have asked questions. I was lurking the entire time but couldn't think of anything to ask. |
