OK, so I can't remember the puzzle that I originally wanted to post, but I came up with another one. "So a digital watch, then?" |

Did someone propose a hypothetical thing, and you sarcastically pointed out that a digital watch was that thing? eg if somebody said "I really wish there was a way of telling the time without having to look at where the hands are" |

Did someone propose a hypothetical thing, Not exactly and you sarcastically pointed out that a digital watch was that thing? Yes, but I wouldn't say "sarcastically" e.g. if somebody said "I really wish there was a way of telling the time without having to look at where the hands are" This is very, VERY OTRT |

Did someone say they were going to invent a certain thing? That they wanted a certain thing? That they wished a certain thing existed? Would a digital watch really fit the criteria? |

Here is one of my pet peeves: Clocks that don't have indicators - of any kind! - for the numerical positions around the dial. Relevant? |

Did the person you were speaking too, actually own a digital watch? Does it have anything to do with accuracy? Was the idea of a digital watch a good thing? Or a bad thing? Was the discussion about something else whose primary purpose is not that of a digital watch, but yet it could serve as one? |

RECAP: "So a digital watch, then?" I made this joking comment to nobody in particular after hearing something "said" by someone involving a watch that did not have hands. HINT: This is not an R.E.M. puzzle. |

Was the song written before the days of digital watches? When the song mentioned a watch with no hands, was it supposed to refer to an analogue watch missing the hands? A broken watch? A watch for people with no hands? (you never know)... Did it imply that a watch with no hands would be useless? |

Was the song written before the days of digital watches? No, but it was before they became vastly popular. I'll just say it was an 80s song. When the song mentioned a watch with no hands, was it supposed to refer to an analogue watch missing the hands? A broken watch? I'm not sure to these, but I think the former would be closest A watch for people with no hands? (you never know)... No, but I like that answer. I wish it was correct Did it imply that a watch with no hands would be useless? No |

Did the mention of a watch with no hands appear in the lyrics? Is the video relevant? Did the mention of it in the song suggest that the writer had not thought about the possibility of a digital watch? |

No; I have never seen the video Did the mention of it in the song suggest that the writer had not thought about the possibility of a digital watch? Hmm... not sure how to answer this. I'll say Yope for now |

Is the lack of hands on the watch suggesting that the time of day (or the amount of time something takes) is uncertain or imprecisely defined? or does it imply that time stands still? or does the methaphor/simile/analogy not involve time at all? |

Is the lack of hands on the watch suggesting that the time of day (or the amount of time something takes) is uncertain or imprecisely defined? or does it imply that time stands still? or does the methaphor/simile/analogy This is what I was looking for; nobody had yet said it was a metaphor. For what, I'm not sure, but... not involve time at all? ****SPOILER**** The song "These Dreams" by Heart contains the line "I search for the time on a watch with no hands." My literal mind decided that the lead singer could just be wearing a digital watch. Nice solve Biograd, and nice work Enjay et al (and there's a lot of al). New puzzle right now. |
