Is it a human that an optometrist can't help?
A specific optometrist? Or any optometrist?
Does this have any thing all to do with eyes?

An optometrist can't help a human in a medical sense? Or is this something other than medical treatment?

Is it to do with with something in a particular a person is looking at, but even with perfect vision they can't make out the details? Due to fog? Darkness? Distance?

Dreams relevant, even if not 'visions'?

Was it thought that an optometrist could in fact help? Would a newcomer to the situation think that one could possibly help? Was an optometrist consulted, with disappointing results? Is there a specific optometrist involved?

Are politics involved? Research science? Astronomy?

Well done, Shez. I don't know about other countries, but America is suffering serious "I" trouble. We are fast losing the use of words like we, our, us and replacing them with I and my and mine. just listen to conversations around you and in the shops. Even the lowliest clerk you would think owns the shop with his 'I have....' or married persons with, 'my house, my children. I wish this could be cured as easily as a visit to the optometrist. OK, I'll get down and someone take away the soap box.

Dave, just as annoying, if not as prevalent, is the use of the plural when the singular is meant. There is some excuse for the editorial "we" but not the medical one:
"How are we feeling today?"
"I don't know about you, Doctor, but this one of us feels lousy."
