I'm assuming the storm itself didn't kill people?
Was the storm a typical thunder-and-lightning?
A hurricane?
A tornado?
storm like 'they stormed the beach?'
something else?
Did they die of...
impact?
electric shock?
the other kind of shock?
something piercing them?
suffocation?
asphyxiation?
burning?
freezing?
heart attack?
allergies?
drowning?
explosion?
radiation?
poison?
a psionic death ray?
something else?

A Brid is a translator from Sweden who sets very fine puzzles. I should be greatly distressed to learn that she had died in a storm.

Note: Going by Woubit's definition, there is no need to worry, as Brid is not involved here in any way

I've never heard of that puzzle before, and it is not related to the solutions of this puzzle, but what a great lateral situation!

The Perfect Storm relevant? No, not anything to do with the movie. It may help, though, to think about this storm as having the same magnitude.

Perhaps a clue may be helpful at this point:

Many humans did die, but not directly from the storm. Their cause of death was a very specific one, yet it was not mentioned in the list of possible causes above. While it would not be considered natural causes (i.e. old age), it cannot be totally considered an accident either.

Any seasoned lateral puzzlers who wish to come at the solution from a different angle will find much success, I believe...
