might he have given this answer if you had complained about a completely different event/subject? does it have to be in an academic context? did the question relate to legal matters? health? racial matters? religion? politics? ethics? relationships? money? arithmetics? power? history? the constitution? |

He asked something that clearly showed that he didn't yet know some obvious thing that all students with this major should know? He asked something that clearly showed that he didn't know something that he definitely should have known, given the situation? Is there a single idea that is relevant, that he didn't know? If so, would every student, generally, be expected to know it? Would someone learn this in a classroom? |

Does it have to do with whether or not the student truly did "really, really" want to take the course? Vs. it being a required course and the most convenient time for them to take it? Anything about how many people might be dropping the class? |
