The car was not moving, correct? Was he parked? Had he pulled over for some reason? Was he facing the correct direction on/on the correct side of the road? Had he been driving after he got drunk? Did he realize he shouldn't be driving? Was there something else which happened that, had he been sober and driving, would've killed him? Some kind of acciedent? Or natural disaster? Man-made disaster? |

So our hero was buried in an avalanche while driving and he saved his own life by consuming alcohol while trapped in his car, is that correct? Going with that premise, did drinking the alcohol help rescuers to find him? Did it somehow notify someone that he was trapped? That he was alive? |

*************** SPOILER *************** I read this in the newspaper recently. As I stated early in this puzzle, it is claimed to be a true story. And I believe every story I read in the papers, of course... well, here it goes: Jiri was surprised by an avalanche when he was driving in his car along a road in the Carpathes, Slovakia. His car was stuck in the snow, and he was unable to open the doors. He was able to pull down the side windows a bit, and that was all. What to do now? Jiri had been on his way to join a party, and had brought 60 cans of beer in his car. He sat down in the driver´s seat, opened a can of beer, and started to consider the situation. After a while, he felt a strong urge to pee. He discovered that the urine melted the snow away rather quickly. So Jiri started his partying on his own, and in the end made his way out of the avalanche... |

From now on, I will always keep at least a six-pack in my car... I think it will bring me good luck. At least not less than a rabbit´s foot or a horseshoe. Well, come to think of it, maybe the rabbit´s foot is the better choice anyway.... if I have to halt the car abruptly, it is probably better to be smacked in the head by a projectile out of rabbit´s foot than by either a six-pack or a horseshoe... |
