I suppose I really shouldn't expect others to think as strangely as I, but I did respond to a co-worker with the title statement when he asked for a technical solution. I did relent and provide the requested solution afterwards (but first I had to explain why I had brought up monkeys in the first place, which pretty much sucked all the fun out of it). Anyhow, I don't think they'll even let us have monkeys here, and I'm not about to ask anyone, either. So what possible question could prompt me to say something as silly as that? |

Strange thinking is one of my fortes, so I'll give it a shot. Do you work mainly with computers? Is typing relevant here? |

Nope. ================================================ By Simon Downham (Beroean) on Monday, January 31, 2005 - 08:18 pm: Was he hoping to write the complete works of Shakespeare? Nope (I have a feeling Dref was headed the same direction...). |

Monkey = a furry mammal? Monkey = a code/symbol for something else? Monkey = something else? |

By Simon Downham (Beroean) on Monday, January 31, 2005 - 08:27 pm: Monkey = a furry mammal? Yes--with a tail, too (otherwise it'd be an ape). Monkey = a code/symbol for something else? Nope. Monkey = something else? Nope. |

with a tail, too (otherwise it'd be an ape). But would it be an ape if the tail had ben amputated? Was the query to do with comnputering then? |

But would it be an ape if the tail had ben amputated? No. Then it would be an ap. Are there any peanuts involved in this puzzle? |

Don't know--I would think not, but then I have little patience with the "tree falls in the forest" bit, too. Was the query to do with comnputering then? Indeed it was. |

Was the query to do with: programming? Software? Hardware? Other? |

No (although an interesting image for that process...) ================================================ By Simon Downham (Beroean) on Monday, January 31, 2005 - 08:45 pm: was the query indirectly related to software? You could say that, or it could be argued that it was directly related. It's sort of a particular area of programming with relevant specific software, but it isn't really necessary to know exactly to solve the puzzle. |

Your colleague exclaimed "there's a duck shooting down here on rollerblades, how can we catch him" and you retorted, "use a monkey!" ? Was your reference of monkey drawn from the LPTF? Or something else we need to discover? |

No, that's a different puzzle, in fact. Was your reference of monkey drawn from the LPTF? No. Or something else we need to discover? Definitely--at the least there's a lurking F/A or two out there... |

Did the using of a monkey refer to some dull and/or repetitive work even a monkey could perform? |

Any programming/computer lingo involved? Did he ask you how he should move from one tree (directory structure) to another? |
