So we've determined that he was acting as a sick person in a television performance during which he was supposed to cough at a particular time in a particular way(ish)? And if he did not do so he would lose his job? Would he be sacked? Would it just be this particular TV show on which he would no longer work? Would his character no longer be of any use if the coughing was not done proper-like? |

Was the cough to have taken place during a performance? Would the job-losing cough happen during a performance? Would it be a real (involuntary) cough vs. a staged one (relevant?)? |

He is supposed to cough in his movie role as a sick patient but if he does so, he could lose his job? Lose his role in the movie? Lose his fictitious job? Lose some other job? Will the cough reveal something? Will his cough indicate something to somebody else? Is anybody at risk from his cough? Will the cough cause a sequence of events? |

So it is relevant that he is in a series? He would therefore lose his acting role in subsequent episodes? His cough will lead to financial loss and inconvenience to the producers (separate to fred losing his job)? Will the cough cause other problems? |

By Simon Downham (Beroean) on Friday, February 18, 2005 - 12:04 am: Does Fred mind losing his job? yes Is this a planned end to his role - his exit from the series? YES! ****** SPOILER ****** An actor from a long running series said that they all dreaded reading a scripted cough for their character. Nine times out of ten it meant that they were going to be written out of the show. Nobody ever seems to have a regular cold. A headache means a tumour, a glance at another character means an affair, they all work in the same jobs, taking it in turns to work in the bar, cafe etc, a wedding means fisticuffs all round, characters return from the dead having suffered from amnesia, and a cough is the worst of the lot as it means they're being axed. |
