Im not sure if this is a classic or not but i guess ill give it a try... A man saw a ship with black sails and comitted suicide. Why? |

I don't think this is a classic in the strictest sense of the word, but I believe that the story is known well enough to most members here that it might as well be a classic. Still, you never know, so I'll step back and see if anyone wants a shot at it. And welcome to the forums, John.  |

sounds baguely familiar, but I can't remember it so i'll play... Is the ship a boat? Is it on the water? Is it large enough to contain a crew? Has the man ever been on this boat? Did he think he was? Did he kill himself due to guilt? Over something he had done? Hadn't done? |

Don't know the puzzle, but I do know the myth.. but here's a question to check.. If the sails had been a different color (white if I remember correctly), would he not have killed himself? |
