Are 80% of words wrong in some way? or 80% of the email that you received, was wrong? neither of these. The "statement" implies a certain fact; this fact is wrong because it does not apply in 80% of cases.

Is the 'fact' related to medicine?

Cases = a specific type of case such as a court case? or something much more general?

Something else? this one - it is of a rather more specific nature than the general topics above relevant? most assuredly

Was this e-mail you received writtten by a person you know (a personal note)? A business? The government? A charity or non-profit group? A news service?

Was its objective to sell you something? To deliver information/news? To ask your opinion on something?

Was it spam/a chain-letter?

By all means :)

A statement that appears in English, but that is in a non-British publication, is "80% wrong" (and therefore "20% right").

The statement refers to "publications", but not to written publications.

The statement is wrong because, in some way yet to be discovered, it contains an assumption that is not true in 80% of "cases" (where "cases" have yet to be identified.)

Was this e-mail you received writtten by a person you know (a personal note)? yes. And to avoid speculation, it wasn't Buzzard. I could tell this because all of the words in it were correctly spelled :) A business? The government? A charity or non-profit group? A news service?

Was its objective to sell you something? To deliver information/news? To ask your opinion on something? no - it was just for amusement value

Was it spam/a chain-letter? no

So this is a specific task some people perform, sometimes for fun, once in a while outdoors.

Is travel abroad relevant?
Does this activity happen at a certain time of year? i.e Easter?
Morris dancing relevant!? :)
Is some form of entertainment relevant?

So this is a specific task some people perform, sometimes for fun, once in a while outdoors. pretty much, yes

Is travel abroad relevant? most assuredly :)
Does this activity happen at a certain time of year? i.e Easter? no - it happens all year round
Morris dancing relevant!? Well it was said by the philosopher that everything should be tried once except incest and folk dancing. Having tried the latter once in this puzzle, there is no need for you or anyone to try it again.
Is some form of entertainment relevant? very much so :) Good questions - this puzzle may not make it to an archive.
