WAs there any relevant communication between Marina and Bianca? It's relevant that they have communicated, and it's relevant why they communicated, but the details of the communication are not especially relevant.

Is it relevant how they communicated?

How long before this scalding did the relevant incompetence take place/

I am a bit lost - Bianca deliberately tipped boiling water over Stanley? did she intend to do him harm? did she know that she would do him harm? did she know that the water was hot?

PResumably, since Stanley and Bianca are colleagues, they have a common profession? Does Marina share that profession?

PResumably, since Stanley and Bianca are colleagues, they have a common profession? no - they have different professions within the same "industry". Does Marina share that profession? Marina's profession is not within this industry

Do Bianca and Marina communicate as part of their work? or in a social context?
Is the place at which the communication between Bianca and Marina took place important?
or is the cause of the boiling specifically connected with Marina's person (i.e. something that she was wearing)?

Did Bianca think that Stanley had offended her personally? affected her career prospects?
Had Stanley in fact done something detrimental to Bianca? or was he entirely innocent?

Do Bianca and Marina communicate as part of their work? Marina had reason to contact Bianca as a part of her (Marina's) work. They do not communicate on a regular basis or in a social context? no
Is the place at which the communication between Bianca and Marina took place important? no
or is the cause of the boiling specifically connected with Marina's person (i.e. something that she was wearing)? no

Did Bianca think that Stanley had offended her personally? yes, but not primarily affected her career prospects? likewise
Had Stanley in fact done something detrimental to Bianca? yes or was he entirely innocent? "innocent" is a tricky word, and when more of the plot is revealed, you'll see why. But I think most people would agree that Bianca was entirely justified in being very upset with Stanley, although boiling him was perhaps going somewhat too far.

So the mere fact of Marina contacting Bianca was enough to cause the boiling?
Did Marina intend to contact Bianca? Stanley? someone else?
Was Marina investigating something? looking for someone or something?

So the mere fact of Marina contacting Bianca was enough to cause the boiling? no
Did Marina intend to contact Bianca? Stanley? someone else? all of these
Was Marina investigating something? yes indeed looking for someone or something? and yes

Maybe it's time for a refocus:

We have Marina, and Stanley, and Bianca. All of their professions are relevant, but none of them have been discovered. Stanley and Bianca work together, but do not have the same profession. Marina works with neither Stanley nor Bianca, but contacted both of them in the course of her job, which involved some sort of an investigation.

In the course of this investigation, once Marina had become acquainted with both Stanley and Bianca, Marina did something very stupid. As a consequence of this, Bianca became very upset with Stanley, physically attacked him, and seriously injured him. Marina was not present when this attack took place.

There is a fourth character relevant to the story, whom I think I have already mentioned. Nothing is known about her except that she is female. Call her Una if you like.

Marina's profession: police officer? other law enforcement? accountant/auditor? health inspector?

Did Marina reveal the results of her investigation to Bianca? or just part of her discoveries? or perhaps that she had discovered nothing?

Did Marina also become acquainted with Una?
Is Una another colleague of Stanley and Bianca? If so, does she do the same job as Stanley? the same job as Bianca? another different job?
Is Una rather a colleague of Marina? or perhaps someone who has instigated the investigation?

On a wild hunch he asked...are any of the four involved in some time of theater? Does this involve a play or a movie in any way?

Did Stanley find Marina attractive? Relevant? Bianca jealous? Stanley "deserve" what he got?

Did Marina reveal the results of her investigation to Bianca? or just part of her discoveries? in the course of Marina's contact with Bianca, Marina did reveal to Bianca some information discovered in her investigation or perhaps that she had discovered nothing?

Did Marina also become acquainted with Una? eventually, but not until after the time of the events mentioned in the puzzle statement
Is Una another colleague of Stanley and Bianca? no - Una's profession is not relevant If so, does she do the same job as Stanley? the same job as Bianca? another different job?

Just to confirm, was revealing information to Bianca the very stupid thing that Marina did?

Presumably Marina was investigating a crime?
Was the crime: murder? kidnapping? assault? criminal damage? embezzlement? fraud? industrial espionage?

Do Bianca and Stanley work in the same building? for the same company? Is Bianca paid more than Stanley?
Is Stanley a cleaner/janitor? Did he fail to dispose of something?
The "industry" Stanley and Bianca work in. Does it involve: manufacturing? raw materials? sales? services?

Do Bianca and Stanley work in the same building? FA for the same company? they work for the same business entity - it's a bit misleading to cal it a "company" Is Bianca paid more than Stanley? She probably earns more than Stanley does.
Is Stanley a cleaner/janitor? no Did he fail to dispose of something? no

All right, then...

The murder victim: male? female? Gender relevant?
Works with Stanley? Bianca? Works in the same industry at all? Profession relevant? Known to Una? (I'll leave the name of the victim up to you...)

Una: Did she know of Stanley? Bianca? Did Stanley know of her? Bianca know of her? Was she the murderer?

Did Marina contact Una during the course of her (Marina's) investigation? Relevant?

If Bianca did not know of Una: Would Stanley still have been boiled if Bianca knew about Una?

Do Bianca and Stanley work for local government? for federal government? for another publicly funded institution (such as a university)?
Does Bianca normally work outside? Does Stanley normally work outside?

Were the two assaults and the murder all committed by the same person? Were they all committed against different people?
Did Bianca witness any of the crimes? Did she witness all of the crimes? Did she supervise or order any of the crimes?
Did Stanley witness any of the crimes? Did he witness all of the crimes?
Was Bianca trying to protect the murderer from the investigation?
Are any crimes besides the two assaults and the murder involved?

Are Stanley and Bianca paid monthly? weekly? ad-hoc? Is it a structured pay packet (eg tax + deductions? or more cash in hand?

Is the professional relationship a direct report eg boss and worker? or more distant Director to cleaner?

Are Stanley and Biancas professional activities criminal? Good question, but a difficult one to answer. I'd say they were borderline-criminal.

Did Stanley commit the assault? Murder? Did Bianca commit the murder? assault? no, Una committed the murder and all of the assaults

Was the murder victim known to the murderer? they were briefly acquainted Was this a professional? yope personal? yope relationship. Was the victims relationship to the murderer a reason for the murder? yope

Are Stanley and Bianca paid monthly? weekly? ad-hoc? Is it a structured pay packet (eg tax + deductions? or more cash in hand? Stanley is paid cash in hand upon completion of services provided. Bianca is an entrepreneur of sorts, and is "paid" whatever profit she makes from her "business".

Is the professional relationship a direct report eg boss and worker? yes, I suppose so or more distant Director to cleaner?

Was the reason Stanley was in Bianca kitchen personal? professional? irrelevant
