Was she trying to catch a bird? butterfly? other living thing? Kitty trying to leap over the pond? Kitty play fighting with her reflection? No, although they're all good guesses. I think I'd better put you out of your misery .... *****SPOILER****** We have two female cats, Polly and Suki, hence the title "They've all gone away" - the final line from the children's rhyme "Polly put the kettle on". We also have a fairly large pond in our garden and last summer, in an idle moment, our 19-year old son decided to make Suki jump by creeping up behind her while she was staring at the goldfish in the pond. She was so engrossed that, when he got right behind her and shouted "boo", she leapt straight ahead - and straight into the deepest part of the pond! When she finally emerged, she was sopping wet and covered in duckweed. We didn't see the fish for days! The look on Suki's face was an absolute picture - utterly embarrassed and totally indignant at the same time. Needless to say, she hasn't done it since! Thanks to all who took part in a fairly quick puzzle and particular congratulations to Wildcard for getting to the final solution. Well done all! |

Poor Suki. Such is the life of a kitty with a rascal boy around. We had a dog named Polly growing up. She was the runt of a litter of purebred black labs and a sweetheart to the end. Thanks for the fun T. |
