Have they replaced something that smelled? Have they replaced real animals?
Are they made of glass? Plastic? Plush? Do they serve a purpose other than decoration?

Were they meant to replace real animals, therefore making it more convenient to do something? But they're causing just as much inconvenience as before? Therefore leading to the assertation that, "At least they don't smell"?

Have these plastic birds been placed in a place where real birds normally are? Are they a specific type of bird? One that is commonly a pet?
