At the end of the contest, the first place winner was awarded the prize. The person in second place lay unconscious surrounded by a crowd of people, the person in third place lay unconscious in a dark room. What was going on? |

Sounds thrilly... Is that a videogame or a real story? Second and third placed are dead or just fainted? The people surrounding the second, are them spectators? doctors? other participants to the contest? Were the three persons in three different places? how far one from the other? The contest: some sport? Some challenge? Publicly known? Or private? Or even secret? Was it outdoor or indoor? Was it in a limited space? |

Sounds thrilly... Is that a videogame or a real story? 'Real' - from my creative mind, that is Second and third placed are dead No or just fainted? Not really The people surrounding the second, are them spectators? Some of them, yes doctors? Likely, at least possible other participants to the contest? This is also likely Were the three persons in three different places? I'd say two were in the same proximity, the third in a different place how far one from the other? Explore The contest: some sport? Partially Some challenge? Yes, this is a better description Publicly known? Yes Or private? Or even secret? No Was it outdoor Yes or indoor? No Was it in a limited space? No = good q |

Was the first prize winner responsible for the fate of the second? Of the third? Is the second near the first? Is the third near the first? Did the contest involve physical activity? Was it a race of some sort? If yes to physical activity, is the second unconscious because of his physical exertions? Is the third? Any foul play? |

any violence in this activity (tackling, boxing, wrestling, etc.)? Are these people professional athletes? Is this challenge televised? Any vehicles or buildings involved in the challenge? The room that the person's unconscious in -- were any of the other competitors in this room during the contest? Was being unconscious a necessary part of the contest? Was remaining conscious a designed part of the contest (e.g. staying underwater a long time without blacking out)? |

Was the first prize winner responsible for the fate of the second? No Of the third? No Is the second near the first? Yes Is the third near the first? Not considerably, no Did the contest involve physical activity? Yes Was it a race of some sort? Yes If yes to physical activity, is the second unconscious because of his physical exertions? Yes, but explore Is the third? Same answer Any foul play? No did da dpeople do da dchallenge dwillingly? Yes any violence in this activity (tackling, boxing, wrestling, etc.)? These kind of things probably would happen, but not relevant to the people involved here Are these people professional athletes? No Is this challenge televised? Not relevant Any vehicles or buildings involved in the challenge? Yes The room that the person's unconscious in -- were any of the other competitors in this room during the contest? No Was being unconscious a necessary part of the contest? No Was remaining conscious a designed part of the contest (e.g. staying underwater a long time without blacking out)? No, nothing like this |

Did the race cover a physical distance? Did it have a defined start and end point? Was finding the finish part of the race? did most of the race occur horizontally over ground? vertically? through the air? through water? through space? To clarify- were vehicles involved? Were buildings? |

If vehicles were involved, were they... NASA related? Rollercoaster related? "7 Days" related? Was the contest based on... physical strength? Constitution? Stamina? Speed? Skill? Dexterity? another physical quality? Intelligence/knowledge? |

Are the second and third merely sleeping? No Did the race cover a physical distance? Yes Did it have a defined start Yes and end point? No Was finding the finish part of the race? Well yes and no, you'll have to explore this did most of the race occur horizontally over ground? Yes vertically? yes, this also through the air? This is involved, but indirectly through water? Maybe, but likely minimal through space? No To clarify- were vehicles involved? If so it was only secondary to the primary action and not entirely relevant Were buildings? Again, as a secondary element to primary action Is #3 in a building? No in a vehicle? No underground? Yes was there a fourth place? Yes, and many other places Is cheese relevant? No - but I know what you are thinking of and it's a good stab at the solution If vehicles were involved, were they... NASA related? Rollercoaster related? "7 Days" related? Consider vehicles only a minor and secondary part of the primary action Was the contest based on... physical strength? Yes Constitution? Maybe Stamina? Yes Speed? Yes Skill? Not really Dexterity? Yes another physical quality? No Intelligence/knowledge? Not at all |

Stabbing on, then... There's a race somewhere in GB where they let a cheese roll down a very steep hill. Whoever gets the cheese first (or crosses the finish line downhill first) is the winner. You can consider yourself lucky if you don't break your leg (or worse) while charging after the cheese. Is the race in this puzzle somewhat like that? For a generic participant, is there a a certain goal or finish line to be reached? Must something be gotten? be brought somewhere? |

You can consider yourself lucky if you don't break your leg (or worse) while charging after the cheese. As soon as you asked about Cheese I knew this was what you were thinking of - you'd have to really like cheese or be crazy to be in that kind of race! Is the race in this puzzle somewhat like that? Yes - both the Cheese Race (I'm sure someone from that part of the world is going to correct me and provide the actual name of the event) and the race in this puzzle have the same basic elements. For a generic participant, is there a a certain goal Yes or finish line No, not really to be reached? Yes, keep reading Must something be gotten? YES be brought somewhere? No |
