is the time she says it a particular time of day? like morning, evening, noon, etc?
or a particular time of the month, or the year?
or is it a specific time related to whatever she is doing at the time, like every time she goes to the grocery store?

is her 'slimy' behaviour just that she takes a privilege meant for disabled people? so now we should just be finding out what that privilege is?

does she take the privilege - but at the same time says something which gives the impression she is not entitled to it?

if she did not say anything is there any way that onlookers could tell whether she was entitled to the privilege or not?

Ok, is the building a research lab perhaps? Someplace run by PhDs rather than MDs? The center for disease control?

Did she do something she wasn't supposed to be doing (accidentally or otherwise) and her disease would be evidence that she had? Would the resulting proceedures have inconvenienced everybody more than it was worth? I.e. having to get quaranteened for catching the Flu.

In America there was a shortage of flu vaccine last year. So people were expexcted to go without unless they were over 70 or chronically ill. Our heroine had a chronic illness that she kept secret. So when a friend noticed in her house a bill for a flu vaccination, she pretended that she had been slimy & pulled strings in ordser to get a vaccination to which she was not entitled.
