No but OTRT to 'something hidden in the bear'. Was there something inside the teddy bear, no but it wasn't hidden? Perhaps something like a sound-maker? a squeeker? a compartment for a child to put their treasures??

Did the bear obscure something? somebody? Something/somebody wasn't hidden inside, but behind? under? Somewhere unrelated, but the bear provided the necessary distraction to keep them/it undetected?

Okay.

Somebody was hidden underneath a teddy bear? A large teddy bear? Is it even important that the person was "hidden"? Or rather just "protected"? Did the bear keep chunks of building from falling on said person and killing them in an earthquake?

Did this take place in a toy shop? Toy factory? playroom? Is the 'he' a child? Playing hide and seek?
If he weren't hidden would he have been in danger?

Did the teddy save the day by preventing his capture (or recapture, I suppose)? Or by giving him away to the authorities?

Is it relevant why he was being pursued?

If it saved the day by preventing his recapture, was it because it somehow deflected them from searching for him there?

If it saved the day by leading to his capture, did it somehow entice the police to pick it up and reveal him? Was it out of place in that setting?

You said no to a toy shop -- was the teddy and clothes in a trash pile? an aley? a dumpster?

Did one of the policemen pick it up because he used to have one just like it? Because it was in good condition?

Did the policeman even pick it up? move it? at all?

*************SPOILER*********************

I found this story in the newspaper. Apparently, cops were looking for a criminal. He went into a house and buried himself under some clothes and a teddy bear. When the police felt how warm the teddy bear was, they looked underneath and discovered the criminal.

Here's the story from the Associated Press:
" MANNING, S.C. Sep 30, 2005 A warm teddy bear helped lead Clarendon County deputies to a man wanted for an armed robbery and carjacking.

Officers went to a Manning home Wednesday night after received a tip Gregory L. Mouzon was inside.

One of the investigators saw a pile of clothes in a closet and picked up a teddy bear on top that was unusually warm, Chief Deputy Joe Bradham said.

Other officers, including Investigator Tommy Burgess, started picking up the clothes and found Mouzon underneath the pile.

Mouzon "stuck his head up and said, 'Hello, Mr. Burgess,'" Bradham said.

Deputies had been looking for Mouzon for about 18 hours since he went into a gas station, robbed the clerk, then carjacked a 1996 Ford Taurus from an acquaintance who had driven him to the store, authorities said.
