"Looks like it's going to be a bad winter," she said. "Yeah, it's going to be expensive," I replied. "But at least I won't have to buy rubber bands!" |

Are the rubber bands for tying things up? For sealing? Some things involved that will freeze? And result in rubber bands not being needed? |

Rubber bands would have been for... Braces? Binding? Wrapping? Firing? Tension? Other? none of these are exactly it - but maybe binding is somewhat closer? |

Is it more the fact that you won't have to BUY rubber bands that is relevant? Rather than what the rubber bands would be used for? I.e. Would you have the capacity to make rubber bands instead? |

Alright... is your expensive winter related to the increased heating bill? Increased clothing bill? Other? Will you have less need for rubber bands to hold your wads of cash together? |

I just use my diamond-encrusted platinum bill clip! Some people have way too much time and money on their hands. Expensive winter becauses... A bunch of stuff is going to break? Freeze? both? Keep people away and cost you money? Result in higher fares for something? Increase the electricity bill? |

Is the rubber band usage related to... Clothing? Automobiles? Some other type of transportation? Some architectural feature of your home? A heating device? Are they a "fix" for something? Anything to do with mail? Bills? |

Are the clothing and mode of transport related? Or two separate issues? Clothing: Headgear? Eyewear? Worn on hands? Feet? Body trunk? Upper Trunk? Lower Trunk? Underwear? (Just had to ask...) Transport: Walking? Riding an animal? Bicycle? Motorbike? Flying machine? Skiing? Rowing? It has been a while. Just proves...y'all will never get rid of me! |

What, it'll be too cold to ride your bike so you'll take the bus and you won't need rubber bands to...keep your cuffs out of the chain? Hold your stuff onto the bike? |

Shoes? Some sort of special spikes for bike riding? Did you have to hold them on with rubber bands? And since it was going to be very cold, it would be too cold to take your bike about? |

d'oh, sorry - and that was right too! ***** SPOILER ***** When I commute by bike, I hitch up my right pants cuff with rubber bands to keep it from getting caught in the chain. Now that winter is here I'll have to start driving most days, which will get expensive on gas costs but at least save on rubber bands! that makes a total of two puzzles about rationalizing winter discomforts - well, I am California born.. |

Me too. Come to think of it, I'm still here. The weather today is terrible--can't be much above 73° with nasty clear blue skies and...uh, never mind. I will suggest, for anyone pondering a visit to S. F., that autumn is the best season in which to visit. |

Eh--Floridia is much too humid--here when it gets over 60% we all get nosebleeds (or anti-nosebleeds, or something, anyhow)...and even--or maybe especially--Floridians freeze in S. F. in the Summer... |
