I left the coffee and rushed out of the door, fool that I am.

Hi again!

Fool for leaving the coffee?
fool for rushing at all?
fool for rushing out the door?
fool for some other reason?

"I" = human? adult? gender relevant? age relevant?

Would the puzzle work if instead of coffee you left the tea? any other hot beverage? any other beverage at all?

Is the coffee hot? cold? still making? unmade (coffee beans? ground coffee? instant coffee?)

Did you leave it on the counter? the stove? the table? your desk? in your car? at the grocery store? at the coffee shop?

Hi David....it's been a while since we've seen a puzzle from you? How have things been?

If you had only "left the coffee" without rushing out the door, would you still call yourself a fool?

Similarly, if you had rushed out the door without leaving behind the coffee, would you still call yourself a fool?

Are you the only person relevant to this puzzle? If no, how many other persons are relevant [insert LTPF list of integers here]?

Hi again! hello :)

Fool for leaving the coffee? yes
fool for rushing at all? yes
fool for rushing out the door? no - given that I was going to rush, it was not foolish to rush out of the door as such
fool for some other reason? yes

"I" = human? yes adult? yes gender relevant? no age relevant? no

Would the puzzle work if instead of coffee you left the tea? yes any other hot beverage? yes any other beverage at all? yes, but perhaps not quite in the same way

Is the coffee hot? yes cold? laeftr still making? no unmade (coffee beans? ground coffee? instant coffee?) no

Did you leave it on the counter? the stove? the table? your desk? in your car? at the grocery store? at the coffee shop? none of the above

Hi David....it's been a while since we've seen a puzzle from you? How have things been? things have been fine, thanks. Not here as often as I used to be, it's true, but glad to see old and new faces :)

If you had only "left the coffee" without rushing out the door, would you still call yourself a fool? no

Similarly, if you had rushed out the door without leaving behind the coffee, would you still call yourself a fool? yes

Are you the only person relevant to this puzzle? for practical purposes yes, although... If no, how many other persons are relevant [insert LTPF list of integers here]? ...one other person may be described as relatively relevant

Did your reason for rushing have to do with the other person?

For instance, you were going to meet them, and they were late, so you could have sat and enjoyed your coffee instead of rushing?

Did your reason for rushing have to do with the other person? yes, peripherally, but this may mislead

For instance, you were going to meet them, and they were late, so you could have sat and enjoyed your coffee instead of rushing? nothing very much like this

you knew that going wherever you were rushing to to accomplish whatever you were going to accomplish was rather futile, a waste of energy, etc., but being the "fool" you claim, you went anyway?

Are you at home when you rush out?

I have to ask, is Meatloaf relevant?

Was the coffee on the burner of a coffee machine when you left it? In a cafetiere? In a mug?

Did you leave it for a long time? Did it burn the pot? Get cold? Go all mouldy?

Had you made? Poured? the coffee with the intention to drink it?

Did you rush out of the door of your house or out of a room?

Was the coffee in a travel mug or a flask, and you had planned to take it with you?

Did you have to rush because of something foolish you had done previously? Something you had foolishly failed to do? Is it relevant where you rushed to?

Did you leave something behind somewhere that you had to rush back out to get?

Did you forget about a deadline you needed to meet?

When you rushed out, were you going
to do the thing you had previously failed to do?
to warn someone that you had failed to do the thing?
to see if someone else had done the thing?

If so, were you hoping? attempting?
to prevent damage?
avoid inconvienence?
prevent injury?
avoid embarrassment?
avoid financial loss?
avoid the loss of something other than money?
avoid a lawsuit?
avoid a criminal charge?

Did you succeed?

Did your reason for rushing have to do with a misunderstanding of some kind? that you could have avoided if you were not such a fool? :) Did your reason for rushing have to do with the coffee?

Was your misunderstanding based on something you heard? Something you saw? Something you smelled? Did the smell of the horrible coffee make you think your building was burning down?

Was your misunderstanding based on something you heard? Something you saw? this one Something you smelled? Did the smell of the horrible coffee make you think your building was burning down? it was not horrible coffee, nor did it smell like buildings burning down. At least, not to any great extent.
