By Katy (Katy) on Thursday, January 19, 2006 - 10:24 am: are the birds all the same type? yes smaller than a sparrow? Roughly the same? Smaller than a thrush? Roughly the same? Smaller than a chicken? Roughly the same? Larger than a chicken? only very slightly larger than a chicken. You see, they are hens... |

Does this puzzle involve a normal hen-thing? Not laying eggs, but... being in battery cages? Being free range? Scratching in the dirt? (why do they do that??) being eaten? not really being able to fly? |

Is "it" useful as a goal? like Salvation - may/may not be practically impossible to reach, but anyway for many people useful as a goal? |

so does the practically impossible thing relate to hens flying? Without wings? Homing hens? fly to another country? Around the world? |

the wings themselves relevant? They are not functional for flying, but are quite useful as nourishment? |

Specific hens? Idealised hens? Metaphorical hens? Proverbial hens? Platonic hens? Ex-hens (...shuffled off this mortal coil and gone to meet their maker)? Hens yet-to-be? Countable hens? |

Is the flying of the hens the practically impossible but useful thing? If so, is the flying useful for the hens themselves? For people in general? For specific people? |

Do people wish to send messages by way of homing hens? Do they want to have chariots pulled by flying hens? Is this based on a pun? |

I cannot say for certain, since I do not know the plot of Chicken Run. But I think it highly unlikely. |

Is the idea to make chickens do something useful (I'll add "other than the usual numerous contributions chickens currently make to society" to cover myself legally!) Would more than one chicken need to be involved? |

By Katy (Katy) on Wednesday, January 25, 2006 - 08:20 pm: Is the idea to make chickens not chickens - hens. The difference is important do something useful no - the idea is to do something to hens. The thing itself would be more or less completely useless. (I'll add "other than the usual numerous contributions chickens currently make to society" to cover myself legally!) Would more than one chicken need to be involved? yes |
