I have in mind a specific activity. In France, this activity is acceptable all year round, but in England it is only permissible for three months of the year. What is the activity? Does this have to do something with the letters of the words March, May and August? Is it that names of months aren't allowed in scrabble? but these three words all have a second meaning (the troops march, may I..., the august emperor)? So the activity would be laying these words on the board? This would work for the England part... let's see for France: Are you allowed to use names of months in French scrabble? Do I have to read the statement literally, i.e., you are allowed to lay down the French word for "year" (an)? Are they still playing English scrabble so that "an" again is according to the rules? | ||

***********SPOILER********** Good enough! The answer is: Playing the current month of the year as a word in a scrabble tournament. Months of the year are proper nouns in English, and so are not allowed, with the exception of March, May and August, which have other meanings. In French, the names of months are not capitalised, and so are allowed in Scrabble. How nerdy was that? | ||
