Susie does not get along with her employer, often becomes irritated with her co-workers, and usually has to stay at work for up to an hour past closing time. She has been offered a job at a building only a mile from where she currently works that would give her higher pay and she would be working for a personal friend of hers. Yet whenever the offer comes up, she always turns down the job. Why?

Does she have trouble getting there?
Is somebody working there who would be even worse than her momentary colleaques?

Does the answer have to do with the type of work she does?

If so, is her job related to...
artistic/musical/writer?
Banking/financial/real estate?
Clerical/Administrative?
Computer related / Hardware ?
Construction / Craftsman ?
Education / Academic Research ?
Entertainment / Media ?
Executive / Management ?
Hospitality / Travel ?
Legal Services ?
Manufacturing / Distributions ?
Medical / Health Services ?
Politics / Government / Military ?
Sales / Marketing ?
Technical / Science / Engineering ?
Teaching / Child care?
Transportation ?
Food Service ?
Other ?

Do her reasons for turning down the job offer have to do with...
Working for a friend?
Salary?
Location of the Job?
Nature of the work?
Obstacles between her and the job?
Change in time zones?
Other employees?
Contract obligations?
Lack of transportation?

Sorry, what I meant was:
Does she have trouble getting to the building where they offer her the great job?

Just a thought: They offer her to work at a building one mile away from her current workplace. Does she have to go somewhere else for the application process?

Or... to elaborate on the previous... was she OFFERED the job at a place a mile down the street? But she would have to actually WORK someplace far away requiring her to move?

Working for a friend? No, she would not have a problem with this
Salary? No
Location of the Job? Yes

She doesn't happen to have something like the Berlin wall between her and that other job, does she?

Is she handicapped?
Would she work at the same building all the time?
Is the job they offer her an office job? outdoor job? Would she work literally "at the building", i.e. do something to the building on her job?

*points* You missed a few earlier questions.

The obstacle between her and the job...
physical?
beauracratic?
mental?
wall?
Border?
distance?
Barb wire?
Security clearance?
Nationality?
She's afraid of heights?

Does her difficulty in reaching the offered job have anything to do with her method of transport?

If yes, does she get to her current job by:
walking?
biking?
driving?
riding in someone else's car?
taking a bus/train/tram/other mass transit?
other?

Is she physically incapable of using any of the above means of transport? Mentally incapable?

Would most people have the same trouble getting to the offered job from Susie's starting point? Just to be sure: is her starting point her home?

Or... to elaborate on the previous... was she OFFERED the job at a place a mile down the street?
But she would have to actually WORK someplace far away requiring her to move? No - to clarify, she would be working at the location a mile from where she currently works

The obstacle between her and the job...
physical? Yes
beauracratic? No
mental? This plays a part, but you'll need to explore to avoid FA
wall? No
Border? No
distance? No
Barb wire? No
Security clearance? No
Nationality? No
She's afraid of heights? No

Does her difficulty in reaching the offered job have anything to do with her method of transport? Yes

If yes, does she get to her current job by:
walking?
biking?
driving? This, no to rest
riding in someone else's car?
taking a bus/train/tram/other mass transit?
other?

Is she physically incapable of using any of the above means of transport? Mentally incapable? No, she could use any of them

Would most people have the same trouble getting to the offered job from Susie's starting point? It depends...
Just to be sure: is her starting point her home?
Yes

Just a thought: They offer her to work at a building one mile away from her current workplace. Does she have to go somewhere else for the application process? No

In order to get to the new job, would she be able to...

walk there?
ride a bike there?
bus there?
drive there?
take a train?
take an elevator?

Would she HAVE to use one/some of the above?

Does she have some sort of phobia that would prevent her from taking the job? I.e. Claustrophobia and she'd have to take the elevator?

Would she have to park so far away from the building that she'd be late getting in to work every morning? Is Susie morbidly obese and thus physically incapable of walking there? Or better yet... is there no elevator and she's unwilling to hike up the x flights of stairs every day to get to work? Because she gets winded/dizzy and passes out?

Is the "one mile" crucial here? Would the puzzle be substantially the same if it were 3 miles? 35 miles?

Are the present and prospective workplaces

in the same country?
both at ground level?
separated by a geographical feature such as a gorge, uncrossable river, strait, or similar?

In order to get to the new job, would she be able to...
walk there? No
ride a bike there? No
bus there? She could, but wouldn't opt for this
drive there? Yes
take a train? No
take an elevator? No

Would she HAVE to use one/some of the above? Yes

Does she have some sort of phobia that would prevent her from taking the job? I.e. Claustrophobia and she'd have to take the elevator? No, N/A

Would she have to park so far away from the building that she'd be late getting in to work every morning? No
Is Susie morbidly obese and thus physically incapable of walking there? No
Or better yet... is there no elevator and she's unwilling to hike up the x flights of stairs every day to get to work? Because she gets winded/dizzy and passes out? No, N/A

Is the "one mile" crucial here? Not really, besides the fact that it's a relatively short distance
Would the puzzle be substantially the same if it were 3 miles? Pretty much, yes
35 miles? Hmmm..no, not really the same

Are the present and prospective workplaces
in the same country? Yes
both at ground level? Yes
separated by a geographical feature such as a gorge, uncrossable river, strait, or similar?

Ok... so let me see if I have the situation correct...

Susie is an advertising agent? PR director? Manager for an advertising company? and she's been offered a job to do the Same? Different? sort of work for another company? And it's only 1 mile away but it can ONLY be reached by bus or car? And it's mainly because of this transportation restriction that she doesn't want to take the job?

Toll roads / bridges relevant? Other fees / costs associated with driving?

Would she have to cross a quarter she doesn't like? A bad neighbourhood? Red light quarter?
Is there a road from her home to the place she could use? Could she get there if she made a detour? Is there a lake between her home and the place? Any different water obstacle? A forest? Park? Mountain? Ice? Snow? Canyon? Private ground? Anything built by humans? A natural obstacle?
Is the road there dangerous? Is the area between her home and the place dangerous?
Is the time she would need to drive there relevant?

Would help to establish her specific job?
Absolutely
Ok... so let me see if I have the situation correct... Certainly

Susie is an advertising agent? PR director? Manager for an advertising company? No, not any of these
and she's been offered a job to do the Same? Yes, for the most part the job would be a lateral move
Different? Only minor differences
sort of work for another company? She would be working for another company if she took the new job
And it's only 1 mile away but it can ONLY be reached by bus or car? From her starting point yes
And it's mainly because of this transportation restriction that she doesn't want to take the job? Yes, in a way, but you may want to phrase this another way

Toll roads / bridges relevant? No, but keep going with this
Other fees / costs associated with driving? No, not this kind of problem, but keep going...

Would she have to cross a quarter she doesn't like? A bad neighbourhood? Red light quarter? No, not this
Is there a road from her home to the place she could use? Yes
Could she get there if she made a detour? Possibly, but she wouldn't because of an undiscovered factor
Is there a lake between her home and the place?
Any different water obstacle? A forest? Park? Mountain? Ice? Snow? Canyon? Private ground? Anything built by humans? A natural obstacle? No, none of these are relevant, and "obstacle" may not be the best word to use since it's causing some FA's. It's sufficient to say there is not any physical barrier between her start point and end point, but it's another kind of 'obstacle' that needs to be explored
Is the road there dangerous? At times, yes
Is the area between her home and the place dangerous? No, not relevant
Is the time she would need to drive there relevant? YES
