The man sitting next to you gave you his unfinished or not really perfect clay model of a human head, supposedly for an art class. Correct so far? Do you improve the modelling? Do you add more clay? other materials? Do you add missing parts (e.g. he gave you the head, but so far without ears or eyeballs, and you then add these)? Do you add anything not normally found on a human head (pointy ears, wrinkles on the forehead?)? | ||

Did you intentionally make the head more ugly? Was the head the 3D analogon of a caricature? Did you want to help your neighbour in getting a better grade? | ||

Does everybody do what he can do best? noLet's say student A is good at noses, so he does the nose, student B is the expert for ears so she does the ears... and so on? not this, but you are close enough for a... ************SPOILER********************** This is a common art-school project (at least in the schools I've attended) Everyone begins working on an art piece, in this case, ceramic heads. At any point when someone gets stuck, or feels they have made sufficient progress, or in some cases, after a given amount of time, the heads are passed to another student, who continues to work on that piece--they can continue in the same direction or ater it dramatically, until they feel ready to pass it on again. When a student feels that their work has brought a head to an ending point, it is placed aside as finished (or in this case, to be fired in the kiln). The process results in a completed art piece per each student in the class, all of which have had multiple creative influences, in many cases resulting in finished prodcucts that would have been unlikely with only one person's input. (The head in question, for instance, ended up as a tap-dancing, spider-legged jack-o-lantern!!)
