Haha, of course you should believe me--the man in question was old and senile; young bright females such as myself never forget any items of clothing, trust me. And I think I'm running out of crimes. Is it a major crime? What will his punishment be if found guilty--death? imprisonment? less than a year? less than 5 years? 10? 15? 20? 25? 30? more? Or will he just be fined? A traffic related crime? a domestic crime? |

Relevant in which country this takes place? Laws of that country relevant? Would Bob's crime still be considered a crime in most parts of the world? Is the title a hint to the nature of Bob's crime, by the way? |

(The little green men resent the fact that Bob resents the implication) Do Bob and co live in this place permanently? Are they in a spaceship, rocket etc? Is Bob's non-green sexual partner also on trial? Female/male? How old is he/she--15? 16? 17? 18? Did he/she lie to Bob about his/her age? Is his/her age the reason why Bob is being put on trial? Is there a jury? a judge? is the verdict out yet? |

So Bob is guilty and innocent of the same crime? Has he done this action more than once? And sometimes it's a crime and sometime it isn't? Is he guilty and innocent because of age-related reasons? Or family-related reasons? (e.g. I think in some places it's ok to 'do it' with your cousin. In fact, in some places I think it's compulsory :-o ) |

Was he guilty because the sex began when she was younger than presently, when it was illegal, and continued to now when it isn't? (presumably on separate occasions...? though I suppose a liaison could cross a birthday during the act?) Or was he guilty because at some place they've been it's ok at their ages, and at some other place they've been it's illegal? |

Were they perhaps in an airplane in which they crossed time zones during the act, so that by his watch she had turned 16, presumably the legal age, but it was actually an hour before by the real time? |

So, at one point Bob has sex with a girl (Carole, ok?) who is too young, this being a crime? And later (? Or on the same occasion?) has sex with the now older Carole. Right? |

Were they perhaps in an airplane in which they crossed time zones during the act, so that by his watch she had turned 16, presumably the legal age, but it was actually an hour before by the real time?Yes Near enough for a *SPOILER*... Bob and his girl are in an airplane overnight on the night of her 16th birthday. At midnight, she becomes 16 and Bob dives in to have his wicked way with her quite legally. Shortly after, they pass a time zone, which means technically the clock goes back an hour-in theory she is now only 15 and Bob is committing a crime until the flight has advanced enough that even with the time zone, she is still safely 16. It could be argued that since the location of the time zone is impossible to tell, you should add all the time on arrival,in which case Bob is happily innocent. Bob is not permitted to fly with Little Green Man Airlines anymore. For those of you disturbed at Bob being an adult, imagine he's 18 if that makes you feel happier. Thanks for flying Lemon Puzzles.Try the ABC one |

Very good. Technically, I'd suggest that if he's done the deed at any time when it's illegal, then he's guilty, the fact that at some other time it's not illegal is irrelevant - he's guilty as charged. On the other hand, when travelling in an aeroplane one doesn't continually alter the 'plane' time to match the time zone being travelled through, it's usually deemed (I think) to be the time zone of the departure airport until close to landing, when it's deemed to be the timezone of the arrival airport. Now if they'd crossed the international date line, that would be different... :-) |
