Did he expect the dance to achieve anything? No Was it for the benefit of any onlookers? Partly, I doubt he would have done it if he had been alone. Come to think of it, were there any onlookers? Yes Is there anyone else apart from Dave relevant here? Yes, but just of average relevancy |

Was the train he missed the one he intended to get on? Or did he realise as it was pulling away that it was the wrong train? Did missing the train mean he had another benefit (he could, for instance, stay at his girlfriends house having legitimately tried and failed to catch the train)? |

Is missing the train relevant to him doing the dance? If he had caught the train, would he be less happy than having missed it? At a time one minute before the train set off, was he on the platform? At a time five minutes before the train left, would he have been happier catching the train than missing? Or happier missing the train than catching? |

Did he dance voluntarily? Did the circumstances somehow coerce him to dance? Some wild shots: Was he shot at and tried to evade the bullets? Is this a Western setting? Something like "Dance for me, cowboy!" - *PANG* *PANG* *PANG* *PANG* *PANG* *PANG*? Was he attacked by a swarm of insects? |

Did anything relevant happen after he missed the train but before he danced? Did he dance only after realizing that his friend missed the train as well? Did he realize that his friend was trying to catch the same train? If so, was he happy that they weren't separated? If not? Was he glad to see his friend? Did the reason for the dance have anything to do with the friend at all? |

Was this one of those situations where he didn't like to admit that he wanted to catch the train? (well illustrated by the comedian Peter Kay with a man running for a bus) Was there a realisation that if he'd caught that train then it would have been a through train which wouldn't have stopped at his station? Did he suddenly remember that he was supposed to be doing something else instead of catching the train? |

Martin: His Birthday? Yes! ******************SPOILER********************* My friend Dave and I live in the same area, so we often take the train back together. On the night just before his birthday, we left a party 10 minutes before midnight, and hurried to the train station to catch the last train, which left at 12. Unfortunately, just as we reached the platform, we saw the train pull out of the station and move off without us. Aware that it must now be 12 am, Dave did a little dance to celebrate the 18 years he had passed on earth. Thanks for playing! |
