Recently, my mother's sex life has been written about in some detail in at least 1 major newspaper and discussed on the radio and on television. Although I usually have a quite common attitide in not really wanting to think about my mother even having a sex life, I've encouraged all my friends and co-workers, and even strangers to read the article, watch the TV program, and listen to the radio program---without feeling the slightest bit of embarrassment. Why? |

Is there some aspect to her sex life which would provide good advice for others? Like some medical condition people should be aware of? Is the person (or persons) she's having (or previously had) sex with relevant? In terms of who the person is, rather than some physical aspect of them? it's slightly creepy to ask as this is presumably your actual mother, but... Does your mother's sex life involve A man? More than one man? A woman? More than one woman? other?? |

another yucky one coming... Is the sex mentioned in the reports unusual, i.e. something other than standard sexual practice between two consenting adults? Is the man your father? Or step-father? Is the age of the people relevant? Relative ages relevant? (BTW is this really your mother?? I feel very awkward asking these kind of questions, but the quest for truth must go on! ) |

If this were another couple being reported on, would you still be as likely to encourage others to follow the reports? Are you still in friendly contact with your mother and stepfather? Is there some kind of public awareness campaign involving the two? Or some kind of sponsored event?? |

What I mean is, is your mother's sex life being used as an example of good (? or bad?) practice? Health advice generally, e.g. sex is good for you? Are the details of their sex life the key element of the reporting, i.e. the headline for a piece would be of the kind 'The sex life of X revealed'? Or are the reports more concerned with the general life of the couple, and sex is merely a part of the report? Would your mother or stepfather be known to us general folk? Generally? Or for the content of the current reports? Indeed, are your mother and/or stepfather mentioned by name in the reports? |

Does the report describe the frequency of their sex life? Where they choose to have sex? You say it was reported in at least one major newspaper - was it front page news? (!!) news in general? In a health section? In a relationships section? In another section? Are people aware the people in the 'article' they are reading are real people? (For example it's not a cartoon, where the characters happen to have the same names?) Before you ask what newspapers I read.... |

So, an article in the local press, and also local TV and radio, mentions your mother (and stepfather?) by name, and the fact that they have regular sex, correct? Would the frequency of their sex be a cause for reporting in iself? Because it's much more than normal? OR much less than normal? (I'm not going near the question of what should be normal ) |

Is there some other relevant aspect to the news stories, other than purely the sex life and health of a couple? YES!!! |

What I meant was, at the time of the news story, was a notable aspect of the report, the location(country? City? Dwelling? or like up a mountain? or in a river?) where the couple were? Were there others with them carrying out the same activity (Sex? or otherwise?) at the time they were reported on? think this has been covered, but...Was the story about how his condition affects his sex life? Or that his condition doesn't affect his sex life, when it would be thought that it would? Was the other activity some kind of adventure holiday? Or singles holiday? |

OK, let me rephrase: was the article a "slice of life" type human-interest article about living with this condition?
quote:or other lung/breathing disorder? yes, for svv of disorder
svv of disorder, hmm? so is his condition a diagnosable medical disorder? or is it something that could be expected to affect a number of people in his situation? Is altitude relevant? humidity level? pollen count? smog? |

OK, let me rephrase: was the article a "slice of life" type human-interest article about living with this condition? no svv of disorder, hmm?this may have mislead. What I meant was that it's not a disorder that has a name, specific set of symptoms, causes, etc...such as, say, anemia, or muscular dystrophy...but it is indeed a medical condition that causes his lungs to not perform properly. so is his condition a diagnosable medical disorder?so, yope? or is it something that could be expected to affect a number of people in his situation?yope, depending on what you mean by "his situation" Is altitude relevant? no humidity level?no pollen count?no smog?no |

Being from the UK it would be impossible to guess the product by name except by Googling. Stand 'n Seal for sealing grouting appears to fit the criteria. Being from the UK it would be impossible to guess the product by name except by Googling. Stand 'n Seal for sealing grouting appears to fit the criteria. (Actually I thought the word spackling was the US word for grouting). that would be it!!--the word grouting is still used where tile is concerned As for the sex part - apart from breathlessness being an obvious hindrance here, I'm not sure how detailed you want it! I suppose we've got enough for a **********spoiler************** My step dad is among the hundreds of people affected by a defective batch of Tile Perfect Stand and Spray grout sealer, which he actually purchased almost 2 months after the product was supposed to have been recalled and taken off the shelves. Aside from the unlucky few who were killed by the product, my step dad's is the worst case. Not 2 months before the incedent he had a full physical, and it was noted that despite being a lifelong smoker, his lung capacity was 92%...after breathing the fumes (and I will note that he opened all doors and windows and left the area immediately after spraying)..his lung capacity is now 43% of normal. Needless to say, this has adversely affected almost every aspect of his life. He had to quit his job, quit coaching his son's baseball team, and, of course, his sex life isnt' what it used to be. My mom and step-dad's lawsuit is for a whopping 111 million dollars...100 mil for punitive damages (appropriate since they are suing home depot, a billion dollar enterprise), 10 mil for medical expenses, etc, and the other 1 mil for the detrimental affect to their sex life, especially conceidering they were newlyweds at the time. My parent's attorney wanted to garner as much publicity as possible to force Home Depot to settle out of court earlier, but the only reason any news outlets were at all interested was for the sex angle. My parents agreed, as long as they got to tell the rest of the story too, which led to headlines such as "A Sex Life Worth a Million Dollars" telling all about how often they used to have sex, how good it was, and so on. Yet I would rather everyone know about my mom's sex life than no one here about this lawsuit, and to be warned to learn a bit more about the chemicals you use. Thanks to all who played, notably Plebian and Lynne. I will be posting new puzzles soon, after a weekend away for Oktoberfest! |
