Yesish Tame it? no Take it to a vet for: taming, surgery, killing (not sure how killing your pet is called in English)? To the best of my knowlege they aren't taking it to the vet, and the woman certainly isn't after having her dog put down (English phrase). In fact, there isn't a specific relevant destination here |

Judgedeadd Posted on Friday, September 29, 2006 - 12:42 pm: Are they going around the world? And they cannot leave their dog at home? I'l try to answer without being misleading or giving too much away. They aren't going round the world. They are going somewhere, but the destination isn't relevant. It's true to say they can't leave the dog behind. In fact to be accurate, she is going somewhere. |

Judgeadd Posted on Friday, September 29, 2006 - 4:23 pm: Are they going to die? No, despite being a lateral puzzle, no-one dies. This is a true story Tobasi Posted on Friday, September 29, 2006 - 7:44 pm: Is the place that they are leaving relevant? not really, but there's an FA here their home? yes, but with same FA Is the way they are leaving relevant? Yes, same FA on foot? No by car? YES Are they friends? No a couple? No colleagues? No Is their occupation relevant? Hers, no. His, YES Could they start if they had a different dog?Yope. If they changed dogs now, they definitely couldn't start. If there'd been a different dog before this began, this scenario possibly wouldn't have occurred. Jumpingjack Posted on Saturday, September 30, 2006 - 5:49 am: Duration of their journey relevant? No Will they be coming home in less than a day? week? month? year? more? Not known, but likely to be under a month. Not really relevant. And for a minor hint, there could easily be more than one journey... Do they have luggage on them? No. Not relevant Is George the man? The dog? George is the dog Someone else? A famous figure? The name of the ship/car/train/plane? Relevant? No, only that it's a true story and George is actually the name of the dog in question |

No Jumpingjack Posted on Monday, October 02, 2006 - 2:19 pm: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- George is different from other dogs, correct? Not different, this could have been almost any dog. It's the circumstances that make the scenario is it a physical difference? So no does he have any special abilities? And no does he have connections? ?? No Will she be driving? Yes will George be sitting in the front? YES the back? relevant? YES! Where she is going is not relevant, so would she achieve her aims if she drove all day for a few months aimlessly, stopping at hotels along the way? Yes, I imagine Will she gain anything material from this journey? No, or not relevant Does she need to show George to someone? No Do we only have to find out the special characteristic of George, or is there something about her we need to know as well? Tricky to answer. I wouldn't call it a characteristic of George, he seems a reasonably normal dog, and most other dogs could easily be in this scenario. And she's nothing other than the dog's owner. But some information prior to the puzzle is to be discovered Man--footman? No butler? No dog-trainer? No something to do with her car? YOPE - explore with her dog? No with her house? No with her job? No with herself? Not really |

JudgeDeadd Posted on Wednesday, October 04, 2006 - 10:46 am: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Did the dog swallow something? YES! Hey! Did he swallow a electronic key for the car, that is used to start up the car? And they need to touch the car devices with his belly? Reckon that's close enough for a *** SPOILER *** The story concerns a woman who has a car, and a dog (George). The battery in the car key needs changing, but when she changes it she finds the car won't start. Along comes the AA man (for it is he), and after a brief inspection of the key asks if 'a bit of plastic fell out' when changing the battery. The answer to this is yes, but that the dog then ate it! The man deduces that the dog has swallowed the security code chip without which they can't start the car. Not wishing to slice open the dog to retrieve the chip, or wait for nature to take it's course, the AA man applies a little lateral thinking and sits the dog in the front passenger seat, whereupon the car starts fine! 0815 asked about sitting George in the back, which may have worked, but the story specifically mentioned the front seat. This is from a British news story only last week, which I was aware meant that a number of our group may immediately cotton on to, but the story was too good to miss! Hope you enjoyed, I'll find another ASAP.
