Two sisters have lived together for the past year, and get on very well, except maybe the odd fight, that all siblings seem to go through. However last week one of them had to leave home for a short while so as to avoid potential injury to her sister. When she returned a short while later, their harmonious relationship resumed. Explain |

injury due to an action on the part of the 'removed' sister? if so, a deliberate action? accidental? or is it more along the lines of an illness or condition, such that the aforementioned sister was removed in an effort to prevent her from "sharing" it with her sister? |

Are they hamsters? Yes Mice? Was one pregnant? No Hamsters like to eat each other, don't they...? I believe that sometimes they will eat their new born babies if there is not enough food but I dont think full grown ones are cannibals. We can give them names now they are Pepsi and Shirli, two dwarf hamsters, now what happened to cause the problems? |

So who was the one who had to move out--Pepsi or Shirli? Did something happen to the cage? something inside the cage? something happening outside the cage? Was there anything physically wrong with the one who left? Mentally? (temporarily?) Would one of them bite the other? Climb on her? |

Pepsi and Shirly, two hamsters live in one cage. The owner of them plans to put something else into the cage. That thing would cause hunger for Shirli. Would it cause hunger for Pepsi? |

I have a certain picture in my mind: You put something into the cage that has to be opened by the hamsters to get their food. Pepsi is clever enough to find out how it works and gets her food. Shirli is not so clever, becomes hungry, aggressive and attacks her sister? |

Food is involved Pepsi is clever enough to find out how it works and gets her food. Shirli is not so clever, becomes hungry, aggressive and attacks her sister? this is not right but it is not a million miles away either |

Was it just food you put in the cage? Hamster treats? (don't know too much about hamsters) Is this the first time the removal of Pepsi has happened? or is it a regular occurrence? Does Pepsi usually take more than her fair share of food? Was there a specific reason you wanted Shirli to eat uninterrupted? Her birthday? |

Did Shirli have a traumatic event - like the hamster wheel fell on her head or the cat nearly got her - and needed some quiet time to calm down? Did you give her chocolate? cheese? biscuit? cake? some vegetable material? was it solid? liquid? has she had it before? has Pepsi? Is it usually considered a human treat? Did anything happen to Shirli while Pepsi was out of the cage? Did you cause it? Did another person? Did she just eat the treat? Was what you introduced all gone by the time Pepsi came back? Was the timing of Pepsi's return to coincide with the finishing of the treat? with something else? |

I seem to have confused myself - an easy procedure! Pepsi and Shirli were pottering about cage doing hamster type things, you were pottering about house doing human type things - OK so far? I've been thinking something happened to Shirli which led to her being frightened, you removing Pepsi and giving Shirli a treat to "make it better". Is this wrong? Now I'm thinking the thing which frightened Shirli was the (inadvertant?) introduction of the treat? spilled over her? and Pepsi's removal was to avoid her eating the treat off Shirli? Better? Jam? custard? some kind of sauce? mayonnaise? Do you buy it in a supermarket? Could you make it yourself? Does it come in a bottle? jar? packet? If you had it at a meal, would you consume it for? with? first course? main? dessert? afters? Is it more common to eat it on its own as opposed to part of a meal? Is it normally hot? cold? in between? |

Yoghurt? You were going to have a yoghurt, balanced it on top of the cage or jogged your arm as you passed it so the contents spilled over onto Shirli who was, not unreasonably, startled. You know they both like it and that Pepsi would make strenuous efforts to eat it, possibly harming Shirli in the process - so you remove Pepsi and let Shirli lick it off and groom herself in peace, enjoying the treat and recovering her composure (possibly with a bit of help if necessary)? |

This is close enough for a ****************SPOILER****************** I have 2 dwarf hamsters Pepsi and Shirli, who are sisters and despite the odd tussle get on very well, one of the things that dwarf hamsters are partial to is fruit flavoured yoghurt and it can be given to them as a treat. I put the yoghurt in the cage as I have often done before but this time Shirli managed to tip the container all over herself!! This is not really a big problem as obviously yoghurt is edible and won't cause any harm, however this is where Pepsi comes in. She now looked at Shirli as a tasty treat rather than a sister and proceeded to chase her around the cage trying to eat her!!! Poor Shirli could not find a moments peace to clean herself up, so I had to take Pepsi out to give her a chance to sort herself out. P.S. They still get yoghurt but it is now a bit more supervised!! Thanks to all who joined in |
