Did he die of shock resulting in cardiac arrest? ...
As a result from looking at something in a shop window?

Did he see the real price of something that his wife had bought earlier?

Was he looking into a pawn brokers shop and saw something of his that had been stolen?

Was he looking into a bizarre shop window which included shrunken heads from some African tribe when he recognised one of the mummified trophies as being the shrunken head of his explorer father?

In the window, is there a:
- tombstone
- coffin

Does it have:
- a "famous last words" video screen attached
- a complimentary DIY booklet
- a shipping order to his house
- a ridiculously high price
- an affordable (yet high quality) IKEA price
- his name
- his date of birth
- yet another date that would be a deathdate?

If yes on the last question, is the deathdate:
- the next day
- a few days later
- a few weeks later
- even later?

Did he die because:
- it was the wrong color and decorated with flamongos
- he had requested a traditional burial on a viking ship and they got it all wrong
- he was shocked when he saw "his own" tombstone in the window informing him of his imminent death?
