Matthew lives in a very hot region of the country, and so always leaves the window open when he decides to go to bed so that the cool air will fill the house at night. Matthew lives alone except for his two dogs and his one cat. His dogs are very laid back around other animals, but his cat will attack any other animal it sees instantly, except the two dogs and Matthew. It so happened that a bird got into the house one night before Matthew fell asleep. The two dogs suddenly went crazy trying to kill the bird, but the cat remained calm. This behavior confused Matt, but didn't bother him... until the third night that the bird arrived, and his dogs' wild barking woke him up for the third night in a row. The fourth night, he stayed up, caught the bird, and hurt it. After that, even though the bird returned every night, he managed to sleep. How? |

Matthew: human? adult? male? Blood relevant? How did he hurt the bird: stabbing it? breaking its wings? its legs? strangling it? poisoned it? After he hurt the bird, did the dogs go back to their calm behavior immediately? Every night after that, were the dogs silent? Was the cat? Is it relevant that there are two dogs? That there is one cat? That it is a hot country? That Matthew is alone? Is his house in the city? |

Did his hurting the bird stop it talking? flying? walking? Was the cat frightened of the bird? Did the dogs feel threatened by the bird? did they feel the need to protect their master? Were they protecting the cat? |

By strangling the bird did Matt kill it? Did the cat keep bringing the dead bird back in? Does the cat sense something about it that the dogs do not? Was it alive in the first place? Is (or was) it a real living, breathing bird? |

Cuckoo clock?.... **********SPOILER********** Yep! One night, Matt brought a cuckoo clock home, and set it up before going to bed. He fell asleep, then was woken up by his dogs trying to scare away the noisy intruder to their home. The cat didn't think it was a real bird, seeing as how it made such a mechanical noise. So Matt decided to take out the bird's "voice box" on the fourth night, causing his dogs to woof a bit for being startled when the bird apeared, but not bark because of the noise it made. The cat, upon not hearing any sounds, but seeing the bird moving out of the corner of its eye, began to get interested in its strange nightly appearance. But now, Matt could sleep! Good job, guys! You all did awesomely! Go work on Seconds and aslo, check out my friend Danaria's puzzle at the bottom of the page, too! |
