Are the many that die people? animals? Do the man's actions cause the natural events, or vice versa, or are they independent happenings that together cause the deaths? |

Are the ducks in an enclosed area? Are they indoors? outdoors? swimming in a body of water? Are they actually drowned by the rain water, or is the rain an indirect cause of their drowning? |

Did he by any chance throw a net over the pond to catch fish? Any fertilizer relevant that paralyzed them so they couldn't move? Or maybe the ducks were kept in a wire cage that became flooded when it rained? Hiya! |

Is this connected to what he fed them? Did he somehow make them heavier? Did he disturb the water, breaking the surface tension? Were they paralyzed? |

Is this connected to what he fed them? No Did he somehow make them heavier? No Did he disturb the water, breaking the surface tension? Yes Were they paralyzed? No Now that I think about it, the answer for "Did he somehow affect their floating abilities by Reducing surface tension chemically?" should have been yes. Sorry, I keep making mistakes on this puzzle. |

He put some form of fertilizer or substance of that sort that stripped the oil off the ducks' feathers, thus preventing them from floating when they swam on the water? |

Well, I guess that makes this a... ***********SPOILER************* There isn't much left that Blazingphoenix didn't guess so... The farmer ran out of a certain kind of fertilizer that he usually used on his crops, so he decided to try something very similar that was not intended as a fertilizer. It did what he expected for his crops, but a violent thunderstorm caused some of the chemical to run off into a lake that bordered his field. This chemical stripped the oil from the feathers of the ducks that normally swam in the lake and made it so that they couldn't keep afloat. The ducks drowned. Unfortunately, this is a true story. Good job, Blazingphoenix. Everyone keep trying on my other puzzle! |
