Is there a feature of the 'dogs' that is praised in particular, say our dogs have soft, woolen hair? Noish It's pretty much all there now. The one detail left is which breed of dog the sheep were disguised as, and if you get that then you should be able to guess how they were disguised. Hint: it's not a breed of dog normally used to herd sheep. If this is too much to work out then I'll sp01l soon - I think the answer is pretty funny | ||

I still don't understand the horn issue. **************************SPOILER***************** According to a news story I heard a while ago, poodles are becoming the pet of choice among the rich and famous of Japan. Someone decided to cash in on this, banking on the fact that most Japanese people have seen neither poodles nor sheep in their lives. They sold thousands of sheep which had been shaved to look like poodles to the Japanese for half the price of a normal poodle. According to the story this was discovered when a Japanese actress on a talk show and complained that her new poodle would not bark or eat dog food; she then showed a picture to the camera and someone helpfully pointed out it was in fact a sheep. This prompted a friend of mine to suggest that funny consequences might ensue if the Japanese tried to use their new “dogs” to herd sheep, to which I replied “Well, that’s one use for them”. The horn thing is because I think even if you have never seen a poodle, you would be suspicious if it had horns. This was of course kind of a silly puzzle, since a) According to this snopes.com article this story is untrue b) Poodles are not generally used as sheepdogs c) If the Japanese had sheep to herd, they would of course recognise their dogs as what they were.
