I had guessed that..nice to have it confirmed! BTW at least where I come from the phrase to be on another planet means to be distracted and not paying attention to what is happening around you. doing something? not saying? one action or a set of actions? is this a common action? do they understand the reference? if they don't know about it, would they? Does this something require other things to do it with? Special equipment? Do they do it at particular times of the day? mealtimes? bedtime? Getting up? coming home or leaving home? do they do it every day? most days? occasionally? rarely? intentionally? automatically? if you pointed out to them what they were doing would they stop? would they want to stop but find it very difficult to do so? Does the something have to do with communication? eating? sport? school/work? housework? games? music? television? |

With regards to the crumbs-- Is the mess left simply because of them eating it? Do they create crumbs in a different way--rubbing food together? mashing between fingers? throwing food? Should we focus on how they create the crumbs? the means by which you have to clean it up? how often you have to clean it up? the fact that you have to clean up the mess? You said that from someone else's point of view it would be a small mess--did you think it to be a big mess? (especially if you had to clean it up?) I know when my son was a year old he would throw some of his food at every meal--it wasn't a huge mess, but it still drove me crazy because I had to clean it up. |

Do you have to get the crumbs out of the bed before you sleep in it? is this similar to what astronauts do? Does it matter how you get the crumbs out of the bed? If so do you use... ...a mop and dustpan? ...a vacuum cleaner? ...your hands? ...another tool? |

Do they seem to think that you can just float above the bed so you won't be bothered by the crumbs? |

If you only lied down instead of slept, could they still claim you were an astronaut? Are the bedsheets relevant because that's where they leave the crumbs? Do you vacuum them up, so it looks like the crumbs are flying? |
