When Demelza moved to a new city, she abandoned her old hobby & kept her former involvement in it a secret, although there was nothimg shameful about it. How come?? |

Was the new city in the same country as the old one? Is it relevant what country either city is in? Is it relevant what the hobby is? is it normally done outdoors? Indoors? Does it involve any equipment? expensive equipment? computers? Is it relevant why she moved to a different city? Is her job relevant? Her age? |

Was it related to sports? crafts? arts? literature? socializing? science? charity? just a way to spend free time? It was not shameful, but was it unpopular? prohibited? socially unacceptable? in the new city. Or was it so popular that she though her skill level was not adequate to compete with locals? Could she continue if she wanted to? Is it important that she moved from city to city, or will "from an old place to a new one" work as well? |

Demelza = human? adult? female? Was she worried that... ...someone might make a particular inference about her because of the hobby? about her personality? beliefs? skills? wealth? social status? ...someone might mistake participating in the hobby for something else? ...she would be in danger if she participated in the hobby? Were the old city and the new city different in any significant way? If so, was that way related to... ...geography? ...climate? ...size? ...demographics? ...local laws and regulations? ...crime? ...If the two cities were in different countries, laws and regulations at the country level? |

You said that it matters that the place she moved from and the place he moved to were cities and that just "from one place to another" wouldn't do, but that there were no significant differences between the two cities. If the answer to any of the above is "no", the relevant difference between cities and rural areas: ...geography? ...climate? ...size? ...demographics? ...local laws and regulations? ...crime? Would others think she would have committed murder because of something they would... ,,,see? ...hear? ...smell? ...taste? ...touch?
