When Fred heard Septima talking about her day, her offered her a job, although he realized she wouldn't be very good at it. How come? |

Did Fred know Septima before he heard her talk? Did he actually expect her to take the job? Would he have been happy if she had? Did he realise she wouldn't be good at the job because of what she said? Did he offer her the job because of what she said? |

Is Fred an entertainer? Did he offer her a job working alongside him? Might Fred have offered the same job to a man? Is Setpima's age relevant? |

Fred is not an entertainer himself, but the job offered was in the entertainment industry: commercials? voice-overs ( for animation, for example )? news? Did he offer her a job because of her accent? her manner of speech? word choice? noises she made? Was she supposed to be good at this new job, or was the whole point that she will not be good at it? Are they related? How old is she? |

so Septima's job would involve her being on stage, but not as a dancer or singer. Would her part involve speaking at all? would she be a host/ emcee? a public speaker? would she be doing an act of some sort? a sketch routine? a skit? vaudeville? does Septima have a speech impediment? lisp? stuttering? total random guess: Septima wants to be on stage and expresses this to a friend. Fred hears a speech impediment and thinks, "her speech impediment would really enhance this act..." so Fred hires Septima to do a particular act so the audience will think her impediment is part of the act and really think the act is hilarious. |

Would Fred be displeased if Septima could to the job well? Would Fred be satisfied if Septima was as poor at the job as he'd anticipated? Would Septimas poor performance satisfy some need of Fred's? Would Septima's poor performance satisfy some need at all? would septima's poor performance enhance the show? was Septima talking about: herself? another person? something she could do? something she would like to do? is it a musical? drama? comedy? shakespeare? Septima being bad at something has another side in which she was good at something? is it the opposite of teh flaw that Fred noticed? is what she was good at gender related? was she good at something that is usually needed to act in a play? would the puzzle work if Fred heard Septima talking about something completely different? |

Did Septima demonstrate, directly or indirectly, that she has a great improvistional skills during her recounting of her day? If yes, was it directly? Indirectly? |

Indirectly? ************SPOILER******************** When Fred heard Septima describing her day, including verbatim accounts of long conversations, he offered her a job in a play. "But I can't act," she said. "I realize that," Fred replied, "but both the actress & the understudy have the flu & the play goes on tomorrow. I need someone who can learn a lot of lines in a hurry." Thanks for solving it, Hamoreal, & please check out my new puzzle at the bottom of the page. |

Actually, I think the credit should go to Demon_fox09 for the solve. I was thinking either she demonstrated skills in improv or memory, but since demon_fox09 beat me to the punch about the memory, I asked the other question. Nice puzzle. |
