Did he just drown? Was the liquid too hot? Too cold (liquid nitrogen)? Did he drink too much? Did he drink seawater? Was the liquid Mercury (quicksilver)? Another liquid metal? Was the liquid radioactive? Did he die because of the liquid itself, or because of the consequences? |

I don't think it was frozen, because then it isn't a liquid anymore. |

Was the liquid a pure substance? a solution? a suspension? Was it altered physically? chemically? by addition of other substances? Was the death a result of direct contact with the liquid? indirect contact? a sequence of events that does not include a "contact" of any kind? Was the death a consequence of the liquid's physical properties? chemical? amount of it? just its being in a certain place at a certain time? |

is the liquid oil? Did he suffocate because the liquid covered his mouth and head? Did the liquid carry some other substance through his skin? Was the liquid under high pressure when it touched his head and mouth? His legs and feet came into contact with the liquid as did his head, mouth, and nose, with his eyes and arms possibly coming into contact, but not his ears or hands and fingers...that's an odd distribution...was the liquid both spilled and spraying? were there two different liquids? |

Glass? No fair, you used a physics chart didn't you??? SPOILER! I found that in MY physics book that Glass isn't a solid at all, but rather a supercooled liquid! So, our hero hits a glass door, and insert any random sequence events ffrom there |

No fair, you used a physics chart didn't you??? No. Since my question was not what the values were, but whether any of the properties were relevant, I ignored the answer. It was the hint, an a delightful memory of learning this fact myself. By the way, glass does have a very-very high viscosity. Old windows are thicker at the bottom than at the top: the glass flows down like any liquid, only at a very slow pace. |

good puzzle--I do remember seeing a glass-blower create a vase or something like this when I was younger. The glass was molten and extremely hot. It was amazing to see him blow through a tube and create the vase. I completely forgot that before the vase was created that the glass was in a thick liquid state. |

Me being annoying (part II): Glass isn't a liquid: It's a glass, which is something between a liquid and a solid material. Go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glass#Glass_as_a_liquid to find out more. |

Old windows are thicker at the bottom than at the top: the glass flows down like any liquid, only at a very slow pace. I used to believe this, but recently I read that it was a myth. What I read was that hundreds of years ago, when glass-making techniques were not nearly as well-developed as they are now, pieces of glass would come out with an uneven thickness. So a glazier would fit a pane so that the thickest part was at the bottom of the window. |

I will not argue with that explanation. However, I did notice that windows that were about 30 years old were a bit blurry along the lower edge, while remaining clear along the top, and this blurriness was caused by slightly uneven surface. Now, I do not know if they were still not making perfect window glass 50 years ago, but the people installing these windows could care the less about which way the glass went. Not a scientific proof by any means, but I have no better explanation of that unevenness that I felt and saw. Any ideas? |
