Was it a game where the object is to come last? A slow bicycle race perhaps? or one of those board games where instead of accruing money you have to lose it all? |

Is this a sort of Hare & Tortoise story? Does an unusual event or happening cause John to lose and therefore Mark to win? Any cheating involved? vehicles? crimes? are Mark & John related? is this relevant? |

If John had been a little bit worse, might he have won? If Mark had been a bit better, might he have lost? Did Mark cheat? Is it a game of chance? Were they playing against each other? |

p.s. "in off the black" is a pool reference. If a player clears all of his balls he then has to pot the black to win . However if in doing so he also pots the white cue ball he loses the game. Therefore it is possible to win a game of pool without potting a ball. |

Is snap the same thing as "slapjack"? The game where you slap a card (in slapjack, it was the jack's) and you won all the cards below? was John injured/incapacitated that day? hand? wrist? and could not play as well as he normally did, thus helping Mark win more that day? |

Is snap the same thing as "slapjack"? The game where you slap a card (in slapjack, it was the jack's) and you won all the cards below?yes I think was John injured/incapacitated that day?Yes hand?No wrist? No and could not play as well as he normally did, thus helping Mark win more that day?Yes, I think this might qualify for a... *********SPOILER*********** John was great at all types of card games, and Mark was awful. One day, John had Something that made him unable to speak... So Mark challenged him at snap, which involved slapping, which John was good at, but he couldn't say the work, SNAP! |
