They believe that Santa Claws comes trick or treating in a sleigh pulled by 12 rabid reindeer, and gives out pumpkins carved by elves. Why? Silliness: High. I know it's still a while til holiday season, but I couldn't help myself. Early $p0il3rs please email. |

Is the rhyme "twas the night before christmas" relevant? Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer? Tim Burton's "Nightmare before Christmas"? Is the word Halloween relevant? Do they believe he does this on October 31? December 24? relevant? |

Dammit Bodo, stop guessing correctly. Of course that is how it all occurs, but only the highly secretive United Council of Awesomeness knows. And you were supposed to be thrown off track by my silliness claims. Early Spoi... NOT |

Is the rhyme "twas the night before christmas" relevant? no Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer? no Tim Burton's "Nightmare before Christmas"? no Is the word Halloween relevant? the word - no Do they believe he does this on October 31? Possibly December 24? nearly relevant? there are two possible days when they believe Santa Claws does this, and the days are relevant. You've got one. Perhaps I shouldn't have been so cryptic about the two days... The Great Pumpkin's making a list, and it's checking it twice. All Saints/Souls days relevant? no |

As long as they don't crucify him... Relevant that you're spelling it "Claws" instead of "Claus"? Relevant who "they" are? |

As long as they don't crucify him... not a chance. This has nothing to do with bunny rabbits laying chocolate eggs. Or Christianity, for that matter. Relevant that you're spelling it "Claws" instead of "Claus"? Not apart from the highly cryptic referencing of two certain days. Relevant who "they" are? Certainly. |

Sounds like a plot for a Rugrats© cartoon... So traditions/stories of Christmas and Halloween have gotten conflated somehow? |

Charlie Brown holiday specials relevant? no, that's just where i first heard the expression The Great Pumpkin. All those clues are there purely to point out Halloween and Christmas, and the conflation, as Bodo so eloquently extrapolated. Oh, and nothing to do with Rugratsİ. |

Sounds like one of those ridiculous surveys they do from time to time to show how cute/funny kids notions are... No. The source of this puzzle is worth exploring, but it won't lead to the solution. |

...but the second mouse gets the cheese... Is this belief engendered by something written? no Something heard? yes A picture/illustration? A warning? Something animated? no to rest WAG: seasonal shop relevant? no Where it's selling Halloween stuff in October and Christmas stuff in December? no OOOOH! I KNOW! excellent, please email your answer... 25 DEC = 31 OCT on the scientific calculator? yes it does equal that on a scientific calculator, but more importantly, those two numbers are equal any time any place. ****************SPOILER************** This puzzle is based on a favourite joke of mine: Why did the mathematician get Christmas and Halloween confused? Because Dec 25 equals Oct 31. Inspired by the question in Crazypalpig's Crazy Math puzzle about the base of numbers, I tweaked the question to make it a puzzle, ('They' are the mathematicians children) and let it loose. Congrats to Deathateaster for knowing the answer. |
