Do we have to find out what words the blanks represent? Or did he say the word blank? Was his remark unintentionally funny? Or stupid? Did his words have any kind of double meaning? |

Would it have been funny to the person he was talking to? Or was it only funny to you because you heard it out of context? Did he say something he didn't mean to say? Did the remark make him seem unintelligent? Are all the blanks different words? Are any of them the same? If they are, any chance of you pointing out which ones? |

All right, if we call the blanks 1 2 3 & 4... Are 1 & 3 verbs? Are 2 & 4 nouns? Adverbs? Did the statement seem to be stating the impossible? Could you understand the real meaning of what he was trying to say, even though you could see how it would be funny? |

All right, if we call the blanks 1 2 3 & 4... Are 1 & 3 verbs? Are 2 & 4 nouns? Adverbs? On the risk of exposing gross ignorance of the gramma of my mother tongue, here goes.. 1 = Verb 2 = Noun (I think!) 3 = Verb Did the statement seem to be stating the impossible? Yope Could you understand the real meaning of what he was trying to say, even though you could see how it would be funny? Well, I was again showing my ignorance because I have since learned that it is a serious issue and upon brief questioning I understood the real meaning. However when I first heard it, it sounded ridiculous to my uninformed mind |

Hmmm ... those two successive verbs have got me foxed, if one isn't a gerund. OK, does one end in -ED (eg "he can't stay focused")? |

He would go bananas but he can't risk it? (Perhaps said of a Scrabble player who holds AAABNNS but would open up a triple if he played it.) |

do you want us to get any more? presumably the reason is that his assets wouldn't be enough to cover his debts, so he'd have to pay a portion of his income to his creditors as well, although I can think of other scenarios |

******************************* SPOILER ************************* "He would go bankrupt but he can't afford it!" I couldn't beleive my ears when I heard this apparent contradiction but I was soon to learn that it can be a "catch 22" situation. Bankruptcy becoming unaffordable |
