When I found out Clyde was a racist, I was glad that this was my day for getting a flu shot. How come? |

Was Clyde going to give you the flu shot? Did you find out on the same day? Is it relevant how you found out? Is Clyde white? black? hispanic? Jewish? Is he racist against whites? blacks? hispanics? Jews? Would someone else (of a different race) have suffered if it had been their day to get a flu shot? |

Does your joy over getting the flu shot have to do with... actually receiving the shot? Who paid for the shot? The administrator of the shot? The origin of the vaccine? Is it relevant specifically what Clyde said? Who he said it to? Any other relevant person(s) involved? if so, any relevant chinese people involved? The relevant effect of the flu shot: a physical side effect? the intended immunization? the mark from the shot itself? someone else's reaction to your having had the shot? a mental effect of the shot (for instance, feeling relieved that you wont get the flu)? is it relevant who is administering the flu shots? if so, is that person chinese?

RECAP: Since you have established that the relevant thing about the flu shot was that people are often told not to engage in aerobic exercise for 24 hours after immunization, the puzzle can be rephrased as follows: When I found out that Clyde was a racist, I was glad that I knew I would not be engaging in aerobic exercise that day. How come?? |

Some properties of "the shoes" are relevant: does this refer to the shoes you would have worn for exercising? Or the shoes you were wearing because you weren't exercising? You were glad you wouldn't be exercising that day: because something bad would happen if you were to exercise? Or because something good would happen because you weren't going to exercise? Long time no see ;-)) Did you kick him/step on his foot/attack him physically? Yes!! ********* SPOILER ************ When I heard a lowlife in a grocery store say something about "the little chink who runs the laundry," I was very glad I was about to have a flu shot, because it meant that I would not be taking a long walk that day & hence was wearing not my soft-soled walking shoes, but a pair of shoes with sharp little French heels, one of which found its way onto his toe as I exited the store. "Oh, I'm so sorry," I said sweetly, lacking the courage to say, "Compliments of the 'chink'."Yes, I know you shouldn't attack people physically just because they say something disgusting. But a saint I ain't.Thanks for sticking with it everyone & for solving it, Alizon, & please check out my new puzzle you-know-where. |
