My guess is this... Al was attempting to arrest a criminal from outside of the building, over the phone. He said something along the lines of "come out with your hands up" and when the person on the other end said that he was doing so, yet nobody came out of the building, Al realized he had the wrong #?That's it! ************** SPOILER ***************** Al is a police officer organising a armed siege of Charlie's house. He rings the number and tells Bob (who answers the phone) that his house is surrounded and to come out with his hands up etc etc. Bob does so, but seeing nobody about comes back in and tells Al. Al then realises that he has dialled the wrong number! One of these great stories you find on the net ... and then lose the link to when it comes time for the spoiler! Well done to all who took part, but especially to Lori who stuck with it and completed the puzzle! | ||
