Jinx... the cat? Is this puzzle about a cat? Adult cat? Kitten? Male?
Puzzle about a human? Adult? Male?
More than one party involved?

The random first guesses: Did somebody get ahold of a lazer pointer and have loads of fun with the family pet? (God I love doing that!)

Did a guy run into a wall? In a fashion similar to a dog or a cat chasing an invisible mouse?

Is this based on a true story? Is this guy a coworker? Did the incident take place in his home? somebody elses home? at work? elsewhere?

Is this person very clumsy? Just particularly clumsy that day?

so he saw a mouse? Not known (it's my 'assumption')
was he in his home? No
at work? No
was the mouse in the middle of the room? FA
under something? behind something? did it run under something? behind something? into this hole? did he try to kill the mouse? in some extreme way? dynamite?
All of these may be false assumptions - not surprising - because of my puzzle statement may be misleading. At best the accurate answer should be.. not known.

Was he stuck in a pet door? Window? Skylight? Chimney? Non-standard hole? In the ceiling? Wall? Floor? Well done Tim

This is a comic-tragedy depending on your perspective.

I didn’t know how widely publicised the case was on the side of the Atlantic where it occurred.

************************** SPOILER ******************************

This is the case of the chap that was found dead, stuck in a “cat door”

Here are news links. The second one is a video interview
