Was it murder? Suicide? An accident? Natural death? Was the man hospitalised? Was he sick? Is there anything peculiar about his health, his physical condition or his mental condition? |

Arek_fu (Arek_fu) Posted on Wednesday, February 27, 2008 - 7:26 pm: Was it murder? Thisish. Suicide? An accident? But more like this. Natural death? Was the man hospitalised? Yes. Was he sick? Yes, depending on your definition of sick. Is there anything peculiar about his health, his physical condition or his mental condition? Yesish. Blazingphoenix (Blazingphoenix) The man, H/A/M? Yes. Are there any others present? Yes. Is he actually IN the hospital? No. Good point. The guns are of the metal, shooting variety, yes? Yep. Was he a victim of organ harvesting? No. And just as a warning, this is a bit silly, but not beyond all reasoning. |

Was he high off something (like drugs given to him in the hospital) or halucinating about anything? Was the dead man blind at all? Was the dead man trying to take the guns away from the hospital (or wherever he was prior to getting shot)? If so, was he doing so because he thought he was helping the others in the hospital? What kind of hospital relevant? (ie, a normal hospital, mental hospital, etc) Did the now dead man (let us name him Gary) threaten the cop (who shall now be Seth) in any way? Was it interpreted as a threat by Seth? |

Adryghi (Adryghi) Does our hero have a memory problem? Possibly, the relevant condition is close to this. is he a cleptomaniac? No. Blazingphoenix (Blazingphoenix) Was he high off something (like drugs given to him in the hospital) Yes, possibly, see below. or halucinating about anything? No. Was the dead man blind at all? No. Was the dead man trying to take the guns away from the hospital No.(or wherever he was prior to getting shot)? Yes. If so, was he doing so because he thought he was helping the others in the hospital? No. What kind of hospital relevant? (ie, a normal hospital, mental hospital, etc) Normal. Did the now dead man (let us name him Gary) threaten the cop (who shall now be Seth) in any way? no...Was it interpreted as a threat by Seth? yes. To avoid going off on a tangent that isn't really relevant: Let's say that Gary was in an accident that put him in the hospital. A concussion plus drugs has rendered his reasoning powers rather fuzzy. That is all that's relevant about his mental condition. =) |

Relevant what he was going to DO with said guns? Was Gary waving the guns around as he ran crazily through the streets? (...worth a shot) |

Was this similar to a SAW movie situation? was he put through some kind of test to survive? Was his intention to steal the guns or did he believe that they were rightfully his? Was it a gun shop or did there just so happen to be guns in this shop? is the type of shop relevant? Was he the owner of the shop? employee? rival shop owner? Prior to being shot, was he planning on keeping the guns? Giving them to someone of relevance? the officer? disposing of them? hiding them? I was not clear on this issue...are the dead man and the officer that killed him the only two relevant individuals? Was how he got the concussion relevant? were the drugs that they gave him (in the sense that they were abnormal to what you would receive for his condition)? Did the officer previously know the man? Did that relevant reason for why he shot him? Did he have a previous criminal record? |

No. Was his intention to steal the guns or did he believe that they were rightfully his? Steal them. Was it a gun shop or did there just so happen to be guns in this shop? is the type of shop relevant? {Irr.} Was he the owner of the shop? employee? rival shop owner? Irr., actually. So, to recap... 1. Gary had an accident and was taken to the hospital. 2. He got out of the hospital wearing a hospital gown. 3. He went to a gun shop and stole some guns. 4. Seth confronted him, and he did something to make Seth think he was about to shoot, so Seth shot him. Are these correct? Now, more details... When he got out of the hospital, had he been discharged in the normal way? Did he ask to be let out? Or did he escape? Relevant? Was it relevant what his motive for stealing the guns was? Is it relevant where Seth confronted Gary? In the gun shop? Outside? At Gary's house? Was there a vehicle pursuit? Did Gary say something to Seth? Did he draw any of the guns? Did he point the gun at someone? At Seth? himself? someone else? |

Was he told he could leave/had to leave because he had been fully treated? because the doctors couldn't treat him for some reason? because he couldn't afford to pay for his care? because there was an emergency in the hospital? like a fire? or was there something happening on the outside that he needed to get to? Was his motive for stealing the guns... ...money? To get money to pay for his care? Was he planning to use the guns to rob someone? Or sell the guns themselves? ...other material possessions? Was he planning on carjacking someone? or steal other goods? ...revenge? Did he intend to use the guns to shoot someone? or get someone else in trouble? Did he want to plant the guns on someone? ...to help someone? Was he planning to give the guns to someone else? His friends? Family? Members of a gang? ...self-defense? Did he think someone was out to get him and so wanted the guns for self-defense? Or was someone threatening/blackmailing him into stealing the guns for them? ...to get out of trouble? Did he think someone was out to get him and so wanted the guns for self-defense? Yope. Or was someone threatening/blackmailing him into stealing the guns for them? No. ...to get out of trouble? Was he under suspicion for another crime and somehow thought the guns could be useful in clearing his name? or providing an alibi? or intimidating a witness? No to all. RECAP Gary woke in a hospital after getting in a car accident. His head still fuzzy, he staggered out of the hospital, went to a gun store, and stole several guns. He didn't do this because of anything that had occured before the accident, or anything he heard in the hospital. Once he left the gun shop, a police officer, surprised by the sight of a man in a robe carrying numerous guns, shot him. What still needs to be solved is that Gary's motives were. |

Did he see or hear something after leaving the hospital that made him fearful, and led him to steal the guns? Was his fear legitimate, or did he misinterpret something? |

Did he know the employees of the gun shop? Were the guns stored out in the open? Were the guns all the same type? Did he have any accessories (bag, holsters, etc) to help him carry the guns? Did he steal the guns because he believed that something bad would happen if they remained at the shop? Does this have anything to do with a concern about his "right to bear arms?" |

Were the streets deserted? No cars or other people in sight? Or just that he didn't see anyone else because it was late at night? When he awoke in the hospital, were there any people there? Was he in the hospital for a long period of time (a la Rip Van Winkle?) Had some sort of disaster occurred? Nuclear? Superflu? Alien invasion? Maybe there was a city-wide curfew for some reason? |

Did he see the deserted streets and think a disaster had occurred? And he thought that order would soon break down and he would need to get guns to defend himself? But really the only reason the streets were deserted was that it was late at night? |

Was it only after seeing the streets deserted that he decided he needed a weapon? Was the weapon for protection? Could he have chosen to get knives instead of guns, or any other weapon, for that matter? Did anyone see him leaving the hospital? If so, did they, or if not, would they, have tried to stop him? Does it matter who his last conversation was was with and/or what was said? |

Was everyone inside or gone because a dangerous criminal was on the loose? (and Seth mistook Gary for said criminal?) Hmmm, people inside for the night, and something along the lines of an alien invasion... Vampires? (I doubt it) |

Could you please clarify? So it wasn't a disaster... had war just been declared? a warning or alarm of something about to occur? The reason that the hospital and streets were deserted ---> did it cause them to leave due to fear? excitement? curiosity? |

Could you please clarify? Sorry for the confusion. I had forgotten to let you know earlier that it was in the morning, and was previously allowing people to say late at night because it made little difference. Let's say early morning now, though. So it wasn't a disaster... had war just been declared? No. a warning or alarm of something about to occur? No. The reason that the hospital and streets were deserted ---> did it cause them to leave due to fear? excitement? curiosity? No. |

Is it relevant what period in history this situation occurred? maybe even that it could only happen in the future? Would it only work in certain parts of the world? Wonder why no one asked earlier, but just ruling it out - title relevant? if so, is the song my Lynyrd Skynyrd relevant? tangentially? any point exploring this aspect? What puzzles me is why he stole so many guns... is this significant? Would it have mattered if he had stolen 1 instead of 12? The reason for no one being around --> just a coincidence? was the area actually deserted or did he just not happen to encounter anyone, or see anyone? maybe his vision was impaired? everyone was wearing a particular colour and he was colour blinded by the accident? (LoL) Was the reason paranormal? sci-fi-isque? |

Noobdogg (Noobdogg) Is it relevant what period in history this situation occurred? Yesish. maybe even that it could only happen in the future? No. Would it only work in certain parts of the world? Eh, more likely to happen in some parts. Wonder why no one asked earlier, but just ruling it out - title relevant? if so, is the song my Lynyrd Skynyrd relevant? tangentially? any point exploring this aspect? Not in the least. But always a good question. =) What puzzles me is why he stole so many guns... is this significant? Not really. Would it have mattered if he had stolen 1 instead of 12? No. The reason for no one being around --> just a coincidence? Yope. was the area actually deserted or did he just not happen to encounter anyone, or see anyone? Any of the above work. maybe his vision was impaired? everyone was wearing a particular colour and he was colour blinded by the accident? (LoL) Lol no. Was the reason paranormal? sci-fi-isque? Yesish but be very careful here. |

Did the officer shoot to kill? shoot to disable/disarm (not quite sure what it's called)? but killed him by accident? made worse Gary's physical condition which was previously damaged? Any of this relevant? Did Gary have a relevant physical condition? Was Gary believed to still be alive when he was last seen prior to his leaving the hospital? When Gary last woke up in the hospital was anyone else around? (or) was the hospital empty? relevant? Did he believe something paranormal/sci-fi-isque was occuring (but in reality it was not)? Involves: Ghosts? Magic? Aliens? Space? Technology? Time-travel? Special abilities? The future? |

This. shoot to disable/disarm (not quite sure what it's called)? but killed him by accident? made worse Gary's physical condition which was previously damaged? Any of this relevant? Empty. relevant? Yes. Did he believe something paranormal/sci-fi-isque was occuring (but in reality it was not)? YES! Involves: Ghosts? Magic? Aliens? Space? Technology? Time-travel? Iff zombies; he wakes up, believes some zombie virus idea he has as an explanation for people not being there in the hospital, i.e. most of them have run away the rest of them are zombies, so seeks protection resident evil style... and policeman finds him with all his guns, and shoots him believing him to be a threat? Not sure why the hospital was really empty apart from him... or why he didn't encounter anyone until the policeman though... |

****************SPOILER! Yes! You've cracked two of my puzzles in one day! And by means of explanation: Man from a large city...let's say New York, is driving down the road when he gets into a car accident. He is taken to a hospital in a very small town and wakes the next morning, still a little woozy from drugs/concussion. Now, in this small town it's perfectly normal for the hospital to have minimal staff, and the streets to be deserted, this early in the morning. But Our Hero is used to the city that never sleeps, and after wandering around for a bit in a haze, decides that something must have happened to everyone. Having watched a little too much Dawn of the Dead/ Resident Evil/ 28 Days Later/ I Am Legend, his immediate thought is zombies. Without delay, he breaks into a sports/hunting shop and emerges with enough weaponry to defend himself. A young cop responding to the alarm, and unused to crime of any kind, promptly shoots him. Good job! |
